The P&C Underwriter has responsibility for new and renewal business for their own book of business. The position will be responsible for driving profitable growth with Chicago and Midwest producers in-scope for our Private Equity Specialty (PES) customer group with an M&A specialization.This includes large national brokers, key Cornerstone relationships and local/regional agents. Lines of business include Package, Automobile, Umbrella, International, E&O, and Workers' Compensation. Underwriting duties will include developing and negotiating price, coverage, terms and conditions for all new business and renewals while actively identifying account rounding opportunities for other Chubb Commercial Insurance practices.Collaborating with underwriters, operations, claims, marketing, and home office management is necessary. Must implement and manage effective pricing and rate strategies that will produce profitability, book growth, and successful producer relations. We are looking for a candidate who is highly motivated, results oriented with solid business and underwriting acumen.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Solicit new and renewal submissions from agents and brokers – the underwriter is responsible for a new business production goal and managing a renewal book of businessExecute regional marketing and sales strategies including prospecting, cross sell and upsell initiativesDetermine terms, conditions and pricing using complex rating plans, underwriting guidelines and staying within authority levelsPartner with manager and IP leader to budget pending Private Equity transactions, including corporate M&A, add-ons and carve-outs, providing estimated terms, conditions and pricing using during a confidential Due Diligence periodWork collaboratively with Manager, Underwriting Associate, and other unit and region colleaguesDocument underwriting files thoroughly and accuratelyHandle accounts and portfolio of business within underwriting authorityAdhere to all underwriting standards and guidelines as outlined by the Division including all applicable Underwriting Guidelines, Authorities and Position PapersAdhere to guidelines for accurate and timely policy issuance, accurate premium booking and billing, manuscript form and endorsement processes, and file construction and documentationRegular broker travel and engagement, including monthly/quarterly travel to assigned branches & broker relationships within the Midwest & TexasQualificationsA minimum of 2 years P&C underwriting experience.Understanding of middle market Property & Casualty products and appetite.Knowledge of the Private Equity insurance industry a plus.Strong sales and marketing skills.Bachelor degree of equivalent.The pay range for the role is $100,000 to $165,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.
