What has been a “sleepy” industry for decades is now at the epicenter of sustaining the global economy.Role Overview:We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Network Engineer to take full ownership of the on-premises local area network infrastructure.As a hands-on engineer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of a robust, reliable, and highly performant network. The Mytra system's components, including robots, servers, and auxiliary systems, operate without external connectivity, making the stability and performance of this internal network paramount to our success.This is a unique opportunity for an engineer who thrives on responsibility and ownership. You will have significant autonomy in decision-making and will work in a nimble, fast-paced environment. This role is a true test of your network design abilities and will allow you to make a direct and visible impact on our system.This is an on-site position in Brisbane, CA, requiring attendance 5 days a week due to the hands-on nature of the work.Some travel should be expected to customer sites in California.ResponsibilitiesDesign, deploy, and manage firewalls, switches and access points with a focus on reliability, scalability, and securityScan Wifi spectrum, map out locations and tune access points as needed based on heat maps, radio interference, etc.Conduct detailed network analysis, performance tuning, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal network operation.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support network infrastructure in office, at customer sites and on bots.Implement and maintain networking monitoring, logging and alerting for multiple sitesImplement and manage IDP/IDS solutionsManage and maintain multiple ISP connections for corporate and customer locationsConduct regular network maintenance, including updating software and hardware.Document network configurations, processes, and procedures.Assist with incident response for network issues, providing troubleshooting and resolutionAssist with engineering and product development teams for on bot networkingTravel to customer sites for setup and deployment of ISP’s and network hardwareBuild and test DIY router hardware for specific use cases unique to our productsQualificationsMinimum three years of experience in network engineering in medium to large scale networksDeep understanding of routing protocolsBe part of the on call team for network outage responseExperience with Firewalls, tunneling protocols (IPSEC, GRE), and advanced Layer 2 protocols (Spanning Tree, LACP, HSRP, MPLS)Experience with switches, firewalls & access points from at lease one of the following brands: Cisco, Aruba, Meraki, Mikrotik, Arista, Ruckus, Fortinet, Ubiquiti, Palo AltoProven track record of designing, deploying and managing multi site small to large scale network deployments and troubleshooting complex network issuesExperience with network security practices, tools, and protocolsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong communication and teamwork abilitiesAt least one relevant certification such as Network+, JNCIE, CCNP, or CCIEMust have advanced knowledge and experience with DHCP, DNS, LDAP, OSI Model, SSHExperience with multiple VPN types - Wireguard, OpenVPN, ZeroTier, GlobalProtect, IPSec, L2TPWrite, manage and maintain documentation for all related systemsAbility to develop scripts to automate infrastructure deployment and managementDeploy network monitoring and graphing toolBuild and maintain a PXE boot environment for mass OS installs on single board computersOperating a scissor lift for installing network equipment in IDF’s and on ceiling and/or trussesOccasionally running cat6 and/or fiber cables in ceilings, walls and wire traysMust be comfortable, on occasion, working in hot non-airconditioned and/or cold refrigerated environments for extended periods of time. Our customers are warehouses, logistics and retail suppliers and food manufacturersBonus:Able to work with a DIY/maker mindset, working with unique off the shelf components.Hands-on experience in implementing network security measures (ACLs, NAC, Port Security, AAA)Able to successfully build, manage and maintain DIY linux based router and able to build from source - OpenWRT, Linux, AndroidExperience with alternative wireless protocols (e.g. BLE, HaLow 802.11ah, Zigbee, OpenThread, Matter)Experience running one or more wifi systems concurrently (e.g. Meraki & Arista or Ruckus,Cisco & Ubiquiti)Familiar with pfSense, OPNSense, OpenWRT, etcA Final NoteYou’re encouraged to apply even if you can’t take on every example project in its totality.
