Director, Underwriting

Sentara Health is seeking to hire a qualified individual to join our team as Director, Underwriting.Position Status: Full-time, Day ShiftPosition Location: This position is remote.Standard Working Hours: 8:00AM to 5:00PM (ET)Minimum Requirements:Bachelor’s degree required5 years management required7 years health underwriting requiredExpectations for this Role:Sentara Health is seeking a Director, Underwriting. The ideal candidate should have extensive FL or VA underwriting experience. We are looking for a strong leader with intellectual curiosity and experience in process improvement, particularly through AI technologies. The Director will manage personnel and functions related to underwriting, including Large Group and Small Group products with various funding methods, and other related products. Responsibilities include ensuring proper application of rating systems, working with actuaries to maintain and update these systems, managing staff for employer group reporting and financial reporting, and engaging with brokers and external customers as needed.Knowledge of health insurance, HMO finances, products, and business practices is essential.Sentara Health OverviewSentara Health, an integrated, not-for-profit health care system, has a mission to "We improve health every day."
