Set clear direction and vision for future monitoring and observability strategy. Identify existing areas for improvement, allocate resources, and work with solution architects to craft appropriate remediation or enhancement for these systems.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily.Translate middle and senior management strategic directives into workable technical directivesMonitor project status and take remedial action on projects behind schedule and/or over budgetEnsure systems designs are reflective of our regulatory and compliance goals and support them in an efficient mannerProvide mentoring to more junior members of the teamAllocate resources to resolve complex support issues in non-production and production environments.Have an understanding of Cloud Native applications running on Kubernetes within AWS and how exposed APIs may be used to monitor themAssist production support and development staff in debugging environment defects using logging monitors and/or APM-related profiling dataCreate procedural and troubleshooting documentation related to enterprise monitoring systems and the applications they are monitoringEnsure consistent and robust tool installations using common automation tools, such as Jenkins, Ansible, and Terraform for the installation, configuration, and/or upgrade of monitoring systemsPerform other duties as assignedSupervisory Responsibilities:Supervise all direct reports and provide overall direction to the teamMentor managers and staff in their career growth and career plansOversee performance improvement plans for team members that require improvement to meet expectationsProduce regular reporting via metrics, presentations, or other approaches to keep management apprised of technology statusGenerate technology roadmaps and reasonable milestones to deliver itQualifications:The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Experience in Splunk, ELK, AppDynamics, ITRS, OTEL or similar is a requirement.Excellent problem solving skills.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Proven ability to lead and motivate colleaguesDemonstrate strong confidence in abilities and knowledge.Ability to work well in crisis situations.Technical Skills:Expert understanding of:Systems administration and change management practicesEnterprise monitoring and reporting toolsExperience scripting and/or coding against APIsIn-depth knowledge of common used management and monitoring techInternet / Web based technologiesITLT Best PracticesExperience with tech used to support microservicesNetwork technologiesAWS log collection such as CloudTrail, CloudWatch, VPC Flow LogsMonitoring and reporting using SNMPCI/CD tools such as Artifactory, Jenkins, and GITCloud native applications, including Terraform experienceTechnologies used to support microservicesEncryption technologies (SSL/TLS, PKI Infrastructure management)Security controls as applied to software technologiesEducation and/or Experience:Bachelor's degree in a related area7-10 years of related experienceMinimum 7 years experience working in a distributed multi-platform environment.Minimum 3 years experience working with cloud native applicationsMinimum 3 years experience managing technical projectsCertificates or Licenses:Cloud certification in AWS is a plusAbout UsThe Options Clearing Corporation (OCC) is the world's largest equity derivatives clearing organization. If hired at OCC, your final base salary compensation will be determined by factors such as skills, experience and/or addition, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.We typically do not hire at the maximum of the range in order to allow for future and continued salary growth. We also offer a substantial benefits package as noted on employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus. Discretionary bonuses are based on various factors, including, but not limited to, company and individual performance and are not guaranteed.Salary Range$167,800.00 - $246,200.00Incentive Range23% to 30%This position is eligible for an annual discretionary incentive compensation award, for which the target range is listed above (see Incentive Range).
