We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onward toward certifying the Joby aircraft, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service.OverviewJoby Aviation is seeking a driven engineer with an ability to understand complex problems and create reliable and repeatable solutions. This engineer will play a key role in a small, fast-moving team. They will participate in architecture, design and implementation of solutions that support our integrated vehicle simulators.Specifically, this role focuses on software tools for configuring and launching simulator instances and connecting them with several network models. We are looking for software engineers with strong Python, Container virtualization, and computer networking skills.ResponsibilitiesArchitect, design and develop improvements and extensions for software to launch and interconnect complex software running in over 50 Docker containersHelping maintain existing solutions that manage these simulationsEnhance the ability to manage integration of simulator instances with a variety of additional hardware and software solutionsImprove the ways users can specify new configurations of the simulators and rapidly change configurations to meet testing needsProvide support and consulting to users of the simulation across the organization that depend on the simulators for their daily workExpand the tools to be able to integrate simulation of vehicle components not yet fully simulatedRequiredUniversity degree in computer science, computer engineering or equivalent and 5+ years full time industry experience. An advanced degree and 3+ yrs experience will also be considered.Expert knowledge of PythonUnderstanding of Continuous Integration, Continuous Development (CI/CD) and DevOps toolsNetwork experience (VLANs, UDP, Wireshark, etc)Willingness to be flexible and learn new technologiesDesiredFamiliarity with Linux OS and command line toolsExperience with C++Previous experience supporting other engineers in the use of sustained toolsExperience working with containerization technologies; docker experience preferredAbility to work effectively as a team member in a geographically distributed teamAdditional InformationPlease still apply if you don’t meet all items in the desired section!
