AIML - Principal Software Engineer (Production Engineering), Machine Learning Platform & InfrastructureCupertino, California, United States Machine Learning and AIDescriptionWe are a production-infrastructure-facing distributed-systems team designing, building, and growing Apple's Machine Learning platform, enabling many of Apple's signature apps and experiences. Our work impacts over a billion users and is essential to the success of Apple's growth in AIML. Our team is growing, and you will have the unique opportunity to help us shape our culture and processes. As part of this role, you will: • Collaborate to solve complex DevOps, SRE and production-infrastructure problems with the opportunity to invent innovative solutions • Evolve the design and architecture to support the continued growth of our ML platform • Develop the next generation of services that power Apple Intelligence and Private Cloud OS. • Partner with various teams across Apple to develop features and functionality to enable new experiences in the Apple ecosystemMinimum Qualifications15+ years of experience building and running scalable services in public cloudsSenior level experience with containers and Kubernetes, ML, and cluster operationsTraffic, load-balancing, networking and distributed storage experience.Experience collecting high-level requirements and translating them into pragmatic solutionsProven track record with examples of delivering Infrastructure at the largest internet scaleProficient with various programming languages such as Java/Python/Go for automation or integration with multiple APIs (RESTFul, gRPC, etc.)Experience operating and developing infrastructure and services in public cloud environments (AWS, GCP etc.)Thrives in a environment where you have to learn new skills and technologies constantlyActive in the Tech community and is not comfortable with the status quoExcellent communications skills, capable of working with cross-functional technical and business teams and varying levels of management in a professional mannerPreferred QualificationsExpert in any or all of: load-balancing, observability, microservice architectures, security & cryptography, performance and reliability, Machine Learning Platforms, or LLM operationsExperience in Infrastructure forcastingBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent related experience. Postgraduate degree a plus.At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $212,000 and $386,300, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
