The engineering expert will work closely with Optical, Hardware, and Test engineers to ensure product goals are met.Duties and Responsibilities:Perform all aspects of embedded firmware design and development, including architecture, design, implementation, testing, and debuggingWrite device drivers for complex ASICs, FPGAs, and other componentsContribute to hardware design and participate in hardware design reviewsSupport the initial turn-up of new hardwareWork with optical, hardware, and test engineers in an Agile development environment to ensure team and product goals are metDevelop automation scripts to validate and test the product firmwareDevelop user interfaces for transceiver assemblies and plugsAssist in the design and implementation of manufacturing test fixturesBasic Qualifications:Bachelor’s in Electrical/Computer Engineering or relatedProficient in C / C++ programming for embedded softwareAdhere to software development best practices including C++ coding standards and Agile/Scrum practicesFamiliar with ARM or other microcontrollersFamiliar with UARTs, SPI, and I2C protocolsProficient with reading schematics and using an oscilloscopeFamiliarity with optical networking (OTN, Gigabit Ethernet) is a plusProficient with source code control systems such as GitExcellent verbal and written communication skillsRequirements & Work Environment:Occasional travel (Permanent, full-time position40 hours/week, Monday – Friday, in-officePrimary location in Norcross, GA, USAMust be authorized to work in the USABe energetic and eager to collaborate with diverse cultures and personalitiesMaintain a positive outlook in the face of uncertaintyHave a genuine desire to learn, innovate, and succeedAdtran is a leading global provider of fiber-based networking solutions and SaaS applications, focused on the broadband access market.
