Position SummaryAbout Team:This role supports Project Sparky, an AI-powered chat assistant for iOS and Android platforms. Sparky helps users manage everyday shopping tasks—such as ordering groceries or scheduling car services—by remembering preferences and past interactions to streamline repeat activities. The project is rooted in generative AI and creating the groundwork to move towards agentic AI by enabling personalized, context-aware assistance that evolves with user behavior.We are seeking a highly skilled engineer with deep expertise in mobile architecture across both iOS and Android platforms. The ideal candidate will have experience building intelligent, real-time mobile experiences and a proven track record of strong collaboration with AI/ML, backend, and product teams. A commitment to performance, accessibility, and security standards is essential for this role.What you/'ll doLeads the discovery phase of large Mobile Engineering projects by collaborating with cross-functional teams to determine project strategy; interpreting strategy into sustainable mobile solutions; driving prototype development to ensure concept is feasible; and implementing prototypes to validate projects.Collaborate closely with the service teams to define the right end to end architecture for building reusable mobile (iOS/Android) widgets and create the blueprint with the right integration patterns for consumption by various Walmart Mobile Products.Troubleshoots business and production issues for mobile devices by reviewing and analyzing information, engaging support teams, performing root cause analysis across multiple devices to prevent future issues.Leads project teams for Mobile Engineering projects by providing direction regarding project plan; identifying short- and long-term solutions and timelines; reviewing proposed solutions; implementing new architectural patterns; and performing design and code reviews.Develops innovative mobile technology solutions and strategies to support business objectives by collaborating with cross-functional business partners; benchmarking industry best practices; forecasting for future technologies; communicating with and influencing decision-makers and executives; defining software development guidelines and standards.Leads medium- to large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects for Mobile Engineering by translating requirements into mobile solutions for multiple operating systems; gathering design documents, product requirements, and wireframes; writing and developing code applicable to multiple devices; ensuring integration across OSes; conducting testing; and ensuring on-time delivery.Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; removing barriers; providing resources; measuring progress; and developing contingency plans.Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by mentoring and evaluating performance; fostering a diverse, team-based environment.Promotes and supports company policies and ethics by training others and ensuring compliance.Ensures business needs are met by evaluating ongoing plans and soliciting stakeholder feedback; supporting community outreach events.What you/'ll bringMS in Computer Science or related field20+ years of Software Engineer experience15+ years of experience in building products for Mobile15+ years of iOS/Android platform experience10+ years of programming experience in Swift/Kotlin5+ years of experience in collaborating with AI/ML teamsDeep understanding of various aspects of Mobile App DevelopmentExperience in integrating with REST based backend servicesExperience in working with large code bases and effectively driving large projectsExperience in mentoring engineers and influencing other engineers across the organizationStrong oral and written communication skillsGood problem-solving attitude and analytical skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience in developing Rich Media Content or Conversational Applications in iOS or AndroidExperience in Game Design, 3D modelling, 3D Computer Graphics, OpenGL is a plusAbout Walmart Global TechImagine working in an environment where one line of code can make life easier for hundreds of millions of people.
