Litigation matters arise in contract and tort contexts, representing clients in breaches of contract, title matters, property damage, and other general litigation disputes. There is considerable cross-over and collaboration between the General Litigation and Trial Practice Group and the Real Estate and Business Practice Groups. The Firm combines sophisticated litigation and courtroom skills with practical experience in construction issues, real estate transactions, contract disputes, social services provider operations (private schools, daycare centers, treatment facilities, and the like), business and ownership disputes, and other areas to provide high-quality representation and client satisfaction. The Firm maintains a sophisticated national practice together with a well-established general practice at local and regional levels.Jackson & Campbell currently has an opening for a full-time associate-level attorney with 3+ years of civil litigation experience to join our General Litigation and Real Estate practice groups. Experience with general litigation is required, and experience with real estate disputes, title insurance matters, and/or community association matters is preferred.Key ResponsibilitiesDraft pleadings and discovery motions;Appear and argue at motions hearings;Draft and respond to written discovery;Prepare for and defend clients and expert witnesses at deposition;Prepare for and take fact and expert witness depositions of adverse parties;Draft dispositive motions and present oral argument where appropriate;Trial preparation;Attend trial as second-chair or lead counsel where appropriate;Prepare appellate briefs and appear for appellate argument where appropriate;Prepare draft status reports and budgets for the client’s use.Education and Qualification RequirementsJD from accredited law schoolAdmission to DC bar or waiver eligibility requiredAdmission to VA bar or VA & MD bars preferred3+ years civil litigation experienceKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesStrong analytical skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to prioritize and multi-task a diverse caseload and meet deadlinesSelf-starter who takes ownership of executing tasksAdditional InformationJackson & Campbell offers a competitive salary for this position, with a range of $135,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually, based on experience and qualifications.Jackson & Campbell offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package including medical, dental, vision, health savings account and flexible spending account, 401(k) and profit sharing, paid vacation and sick leave, paid parental leave, and free on-site gym access.Associate attorneys are eligible to participate in the Firm’s billable-hours and collections bonus program and additional bonus programs that may be offered.Jackson & Campbell understands the need for a work-life balance. We offer a hybrid work model that permits you to divide your time between in-office days and working remotely.
