The ideal candidate will have expertise across multiple environmental domains, such as air, water, waste, remediation, safety, explosives, and radiation.Job DutiesServe as lead HSE attorney for organization and lead HSE Legal TeamOversee a global docket of environmental regulatory, administrative, and enforcement mattersSupport internal HSE investigations/audits and manage outside counselAdvise on pertinent environmental policy, regulatory, sustainability, and legislative developmentsSophisticated environmental experience with administrative proceedings and enforcement matters; strong advocacy and negotiation skills; thorough working knowledge of regulatory compliance, sustainability, and environmental permittingProvide strategic legal counsel on environmental components of complex commercial transactionsProvide counseling on operational HSE requirements under the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA, CERCLA, TSCA, EU & UK REACH, OSH Act, and other core HSE laws on a global basisProvide counsel to ensure compliance with regulatory obligations under Superfund and state counterpartsDevelop and execute complex legal, technical, and regulatory strategies across an array of environmental projectsIdentify emerging new laws/regulations and proposed changes to existing regulations, assessing their impact on the businessQualificationsJuris Doctor (JD) required for U.S. positionsMinimum of 10 years of relevant experienceAbility to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently while managing competing deadlinesExceptional interpersonal skills; proactive team player with strong business judgmentRespond to formal and informal notices of non-compliance received from regulatorybodiesAnalyze and advise business on potential environmental, health, and safety issuesImplement business priorities across HSE legal, identifying areas for improvement, and standardizationCandidates who possess qualifications exceeding the minimum job requirements will be considered for higher-level positions based on their experience, additional job requirements, and current business needs.
