## **Category:**Science## **Lab/Area:**Marson Lab## ## **Description:****Who we are**The Gladstone Institutes is a leading independent, not-for-profit research organization dedicated to improving human health through groundbreaking biomedical research and education. Our work spans neuroscience, cardiovascular biology, immunology, and stem cell biology, with a strong emphasis on understanding and treating disease. With approximately 600 team members, including world-renowned scientists and biomedical leaders, Gladstone fosters a collaborative and innovative environment. Located at the Mission Bay Campus in a state-of-the-art facility, we offer competitive salaries, comprehensive benefits, and the resources to empower individuals to maximize their potential and make a meaningful impact on global health.**About the Role** We are seeking highly motivated Computational Research Associates (RAs) to contribute to multidisciplinary projects at the intersection of genome engineering, single-cell omics, and statistical genetics. Our lab has pioneered the use of cutting-edge genetic engineering technologies such as CRISPR in primary human immune cells (Shifrut et al., *Cell* 2018). These advances have enabled us to explore the genetic underpinnings of T cell biology (Schmidt and Steinhart et al., *Science* 2022; Schmidt and Ward et al., *Nature* 2023; Arce et al., *Nature* 2024).In collaboration with the Pritchard Lab at Stanford, we recently developed new approaches to interpret how regulatory networks control immune traits by integrating single-cell perturbation experiments with human genetics data (Ota et al., *bioRxiv* 2025). Building on these efforts, we have established genome-wide CRISPR screening platforms in primary human immune cells with single-cell genomics readouts (Perturb-seq).The RA will play a key role in analyzing large-scale Perturb-seq datasets to dissect the genetic networks that regulate T cell function and identity, and to uncover their impact on complex human traits.**What you will do*** Process and analyze large-scale single-cell perturbation datasets* Apply statistical and machine learning methods for data interpretation* Perform integrative analyses with public datasets (e.g., scRNA-seq, GWAS)* Optimize workflows and codebases for efficient data processing* Document and present results in written reports and lab meetings* Contribute to a collaborative and organized research environment**What you will need*** BS/BA or MS in bioinformatics, computer science, biology, biochemistry, or related field, plus ≥1 year of relevant experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)* Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, R, Bash)* Experience working in a Linux environment* Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research team* Flexibility to learn new methods and adapt to evolving research priorities**What is preferred*** Experience with omics data analysis frameworks (e.g., Scanpy/scverse, DESeq2)* Background in statistics or machine learning; familiarity with ML frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, PyTorch)* Knowledge of molecular biology and immunology**Application Materials*** Resume/CV (include 3 references on your resume)* Cover letter with a brief statement of research background, interests, and future goals**Salary Range:**RA I- $27-$31/hr.RA II- $68,640 - $80,577RA III- $75,505 - $88,634**Gladstone Perks & Benefits*** *People*–work with talented, committed, and supportive teammates within an organization that values each member of its community.* *A meaningful place to grow and learn*–whether it’s your professional skills or scientific knowledge, we have the resources and environment to advance either so you can better support Gladstone’s mission to drive a new era of discovery in disease-oriented science and to mentor tomorrow’s leaders in an inspiring and excellent environment.* *Healthy work/life balance*–you are highly engaged and productive at work because you can have time to recharge and enjoy a vibrant life outside of work.* *Compensation*–competitive salary. Title and salary will be commensurate with education and experience.* *Excellent benefits*–generous medical, dental, vision, retirement plan, paid vacation, commuter benefits, access to free shuttle transportation.Gladstone is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, sex, religion, national origin, ancestry, age, marital status, medical condition, physical or mental disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, or any other non-job related characteristic.
