Customers improve operational efficiency and cut observability costs by up to 70 percent.About the RoleWe are hiring a Solutions Engineering (SE) Team Lead for the West region to scale and guide a high-performing SE team. This is a player-coach role: you will remain customer-facing, owning critical deals and unblocking complex integrations while coaching and developing the regional team. You are accountable for the West SE quota and the technical validation that drives it.This is an opportunity to shape and scale the SE function at one of the most dynamic observability companies in the industryCore ResponsibilitiesLeadership and Field ImpactOwn regional SE performance in partnership with Account Executives, ensuring quota attainment and deal velocityHire, onboard and mentor Solutions Engineers, setting clear KPIs and career pathsMaintain a strong personal presence with customers, modeling technical excellence and closing strategic opportunitiesImprove processes for discovery, POC execution, documentation and knowledge sharingCollaborate with Product, Support and Customer Success to shorten feedback loops and accelerate adoptionDeep Technical ResponsibilitiesArchitect and deploy reference designs for logs, metrics, traces, SIEM and Kubernetes monitoring across AWS, Azure and GCPLead white-board deep-dive sessions on ingestion pipelines, index-free querying and cost-optimized retention strategiesProvide escalation support during POCs: troubleshoot complex issues, analyse logs, traces, craft PromQL, Lucene or Dataprime queries and isolate root causesTrack technical success metrics such as POC win rate, onboarding time-to-value and validation scorecards, converting data insights into process improvementsContribute code or scripts (Python, Go or Java) for custom exporters, automation and synthetic monitoringRequirements7+ years in customer-facing technical roles (Sales Engineering, Solutions Architecture or similar)3+ years leading or managing pre-sales technical teams with a record of coaching successExperience supporting or owning team-level quotas within a sales organizationHands-on expertise with the following: Kibana, Grafana, Datadog, New Relic, Splunk, Honeycomb, Jaeger, OpenSearchProficiency crafting PromQL, Lucene and SQL queries for troubleshooting and dashboardsDeep knowledge of cloud services central to observability:AWS: EKS, Fargate, Lambda, CloudFormation, CloudWatch Logs and MetricsAzure Monitor and equivalents in Google Operations SuiteWorking knowledge of OpenTelemetry, modern DevOps and container platforms (Kubernetes, Docker)Strong ability to communicate with engineers and C-level audiences alikeFamiliarity with structured sales methodologies such as MEDDPIC or Command of the Message (plus)Preferred certifications: AWS Solutions Architect, CKA or CKAD, Prometheus CertifiedCultural FitWe’re seeking candidates who are hungry, humble, and smart.
