OverviewThe SAFe Solutions Architect is a member of the Supply Chain Management Product Line DevSecOps and Integration program that evaluates the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) business needs and determines how IT can support those needs by leveraging software, hardware, or infrastructure. Aligning IT strategy with business goals is paramount, with this position helping to determine, develop, and improve technical solutions in support of VA’s business goals. The SAFe Solutions Architect bridges communication between IT and business operations to ensure everyone is aligned in developing and implementing technical solutions for business problems. The process requires regular feedback, adjustments, and problem-solving in order to properly design and implement potential solutions.ResponsibilitiesAnalyze the current architecture and develop target architecture for Health portfolio IT systems. Develop systems roadmap and disposition diagramsDevelop enterprise system’s architecture for modernizing the systems using cloud-based technologies and agency guidelines (example: Human Centered Design, Zero Trust Architecture etc.)Develop architecture artifacts such as operational views (OVs) and systems views (SVs) for complex systems integration using DoD Architecture framework (DODAF).Coordinate with partners and technical support teams to develop the interface control documents and to establish systems interface connectionsDetermine systems architecture requirements and priorities with the stakeholders and proposes the alternate solutions. Evaluate the alternate solutions to identify the best /right technical solution to solve the existing business problem effectivelyUnderstand advancing cloud capabilities, IT, and business needs, while identifying and proposing cost and functional efficiency options for the customer’s collaborative decisions and actionsArchitect solutions using application monitoring, Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) methodology to enable automation in building, testing, deployment and maintenance of applications.Work in an agile DevSecOps environment, which includes assessment, design, development, re-architecture, enhancement, deployment and operations and maintenance processes and procedures, and which has the goal of continuously improving the cloud program, technical, and operational framework required to deliver and manage cloud migration capabilities effectively and efficientlyEstablish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with a diverse group of staff members, stakeholders, and customerMinimum QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Math, Engineering, or related field disciplineExperience in developing the solution architecture for high visible enterprise IT systems.Experience in developing complex IT systems architecture diagrams with technical, interface details.Experienced with architecture artifacts such as operational views (OVs) and systems views (SVs) for complex systems integration using DoD Architecture framework (DODAF).Certification in SAFe Solution Architecture or in cloud technologies (AWS)Cloud experience in a solutions delivery, architecting, designing, developing, leading, and delivering cloud infrastructure and cloud application platform technology solutions over the entire lifecycle of large scale, multi-team, complex enterprise projectsExperience in Core Infrastructure, Application Development, Data and Analytics, and Low Code/No CodeAble to pass a background check to obtain a Public Trust (Tier 2) PositionMust be a U.S. citizenOther Job Specific SkillsPrevious Federal Government or VA experienceExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong ability to foster collaborative work in dynamic team environmentAbility to communicate clearly with all levels in an organizationPossess active Public Trust (Tier 2) clearanceCompensation RangesCompensation ranges for ASM Research positions vary depending on multiple factors; including but not limited to, location, skill set, level of education, certifications, client requirements, contract-specific affordability, government clearance and investigation level, and years of experience. The compensation displayed for this role is a general guideline based on these factors and is unique to each role.
