Cloud Professional Services Manager

This is an opportunity to lead a Professional Services team (also known as Field Engineering), helping customers understand and implement Canonical's open source solutions across public clouds and data centers. The team works with technologies such as Ubuntu, virtualization, private cloud, Kubernetes, MLops platforms, and data platforms. As the company expands into new industries like telecom, finance, healthcare, and media, it develops new open source solutions to meet industry-specific needs. The Role The Cloud Professional Services Manager is responsible for line management, career guidance, developing engineering talent, and representing the team technically. The role involves active participation in technical presales and collaboration with other teams and customers. Location This role is home-based, managing a team within your time zone. Key Responsibilities Lead and develop a team of engineers from graduate to senior levels. Work remotely within a single major time zone. Mentor, coach, and provide career development feedback. Measure and improve team health indicators. Implement disciplined engineering processes. Represent your team and products to stakeholders, partners, and customers. Develop and promote best engineering and organizational practices. Plan and oversee progress on goals and projects. Collaborate with leadership and other teams. Qualifications Knowledge of cloud computing technologies (Kubernetes, Openstack, AWS, GCP, Azure, Ceph). Practical Linux and networking experience. Experience in technical presales. Strong communication skills in English. Experience in leading and mentoring engineers. Organizational skills to ensure timely, high-quality results. High academic achievement (high school and preferably university). Willingness to travel up to 40%. Additional Skills Second language (Spanish or French) preferred. Python knowledge. Experience with external partners and stakeholder feedback.
