The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.Salary Range $135,700.00 - $223,900.00Target Openings 1What Is the Opportunity?Travelers is seeking a Director of Software Engineering (Salesforce) to join our Personal Insurance organization as we grow and transform our Technology landscape. The individual will complete advanced software end-to-end engineering tasks across systems, including designing, developing, analyzing, configuring, testing, debugging, troubleshooting, documenting, health monitoring/alerting, and implementing based on user or system specifications. The role includes consulting with users to determine specifications, managing resources, acting as a subject matter expert across multiple applications, systems and technologies, leveraging technical and business knowledge to drive planning and execution of complex initiatives, participating in the design/development process, providing technical leadership, and leading a team of SWE. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. The company does not sponsor or support H-1B petitions, TN, or Forms I-983/STEM OPT for this role.What Will You Do?Provide Salesforce Service Cloud & FSC Insurance Expertise:Engineer enterprise-scale insurance data models using out of the box Financial Services Cloud capabilitiesDesign complex case hierarchies for multi-line property casualty insurance products (auto, home, etc.) with proper case routing and escalation workflowsLead implementation of advanced Omni-Channel configurations including queue-based routing, skills-based routing, and capacity models for various types of workAdvanced Integration Patterns:Engineer integration architecture connecting core insurance systems using Salesforce capabilities such as Salesforce Connect, Data Cloud, APIs and platform eventsDesign platform event architectures for real-time policy changes, claims updates, and regulatory notificationsArchitect Change Data Capture strategies for maintaining data consistency across insurance system landscapesLead API strategy including REST, GraphQL, and composite API patterns for complex insurance workflowsOversee Salesforce Connect implementations for real-time access to legacy insurance systems without data replicationFollow enterprise event bus patterns using Platform Events for insurance business processesArchitect publish-subscribe patterns for policy lifecycle eventsLeadership & Strategic Vision:Participate and enforce governance frameworks for FSC, including leveraging out-of-the-box capabilities and supporting necessary customizations and extensionsLead evaluation and implementation of Agentforce capabilities for automated servicing and operationsMentor teams on out-of-the-box capabilities, minimizing platform customization while meeting business objectives and exceeding targetsLead a team of software engineers by providing technical guidance and mentorship while modeling Travelers' leadership behaviorsDirect complex design, development, analysis, configuration, testing, debugging, troubleshooting, documenting, health monitoring/alerting, and implementation based on user or system specifications for impactful and high-visibility tasksLead investigation and resolution efforts for critical, high-impact problems, defects, and incidentsSeek opportunities where technology can be utilized to improve the business and provide more efficient processesApply knowledge of current industry trends and techniques to formulate solutions for software engineering problemsPerform other duties as assignedPerform other duties as assignedWhat Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?5 years of related experience, including insurance/financial services industry experienceDemonstrated experience implementing current technology trends and techniques (e.g., cloud-based solutions leveraging microservices)Interprets internal/external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve SDLC processesDelivery - Advanced delivery skills including determining software design strategy and methodology, using automated tests, analysis, and feedback loops to ensure quality and production readinessDomain Expertise - Demonstrated track record of domain expertise, building partnerships and influencing priorities by identifying solutions aligned with business objectives and industry trendsProblem Solving - Strong problem solver who uses data and proofs of concepts to find creative solutions and measures impactCommunication - Clear communicator who can describe technology concepts to the business, document initiatives concisely, collaborate effectively, and listen empatheticallyLeadership - Advanced leadership skills with the ability to take action, inspire, and influence team membersWhat is a Must Have?Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experienceThree years of programming/development experienceWhat Is in It for You?Health Insurance: Coverage for employees and eligible family members from the first day of employmentRetirement: 401(k) match up to 5%, with student loan assistance through Paying it Forward Savings Program; eligibility for a Pension PlanPaid Time Off: Minimum 20 days PTO annually plus nine paid company holidaysWellness Program: Resources for wellness goals and caregiving needs, including access to mental health servicesVolunteer Encouragement: Matching gifts and Volunteer Rewards programEmployment PracticesTravelers is an equal opportunity employer.
