Overview Cyber Security Engineer at KBR, Inc. in El Segundo, CA. An active TS/SCI is required to be considered for this position. KBR’s National Security Solutions team provides high-end engineering and advanced technology solutions to customers in the intelligence and national security communities. This role contributes to protecting national security through design, implementation, and operation of cyber security solutions. Key Responsibilities Deeply involved in the design, testing and implementation of state-of-the-art secure operating systems, networks, and database products. Conducts risk assessment and provides recommendations for application design. Engages with a wide range of security issues including architectures, firewalls, electronic data traffic, and network access. Analyzes across all levels of the total system product life cycle (concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal). Uses encryption technology, performs penetration and vulnerability analysis of various security technologies, and conducts information technology security research. Involves design and development of new systems, applications, and solutions for external customer enterprise-wide cyber systems and networks. Ensures logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions, considering technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Integrates new architectural features into existing infrastructures, designs cyber security architectural artifacts, provides architectural analysis, relates existing systems to future needs and trends, embeds advanced forensic tools and techniques for attack reconstruction, provides engineering recommendations, and resolves integration/testing issues. Interfaces with external entities including law enforcement and intelligence/government agencies as needed. Required Qualifications 5 to 10 years of relevant experience. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience. Advanced degree preferred. Effective communication skills to present technical approaches and findings. Technical expertise with willingness to apply knowledge across related disciplines. Work is performed under limited direction with latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Completed work may be reviewed over a relatively long-term horizon for desired results. No formal supervisory responsibility.
