From creating new tools to improving existing systems, you’ll collaborate with campus partners to deliver technology that matters. This role offers the chance to lead small projects, solve complex problems, and contribute to a Christ-centered university where your work has a lasting impact.Application Design and Development | 50%Collaborate with the development team, campus stakeholders, and supervisor to define project goals, identify solutions, and manage project development cycles.Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of secure administrative and web-based applications.Contribute to major development projects in partnership with the lead engineer.Support cloud migration efforts and integration of cloud-based services.Participate in testing and debugging; develop test scenarios and complete rigorous testing before deploying applications.Adhere to and help enforce development standards, policies, and procedures related to custom applications and data management.Apply emerging technologies deemed beneficial to the Whitworth environment and follow best practices in programming, security, and user interface design.Server Management, System Integration, and IS Collaboration | 25%Work with IS analysts to develop integrations with Whitworth’s ERP system, data warehouse, and hosted platforms.Maintain development environments to ensure performance, data integrity, and security.Assist with licensing management and system upgrades.Manage SQL databases, configure MS Windows security groups, and write scripts to automate system processes.User Support and Needs Analysis | 20%Develop applications that enhance efficiency and support continuous improvement of business processes.Consult with users on system functionality; provide training to ensure effective use of applications.Collaborate with process owners to identify training needs, develop user documentation, and deliver training sessions.Application and System Support | 15%Troubleshoot and support applications across multiple platforms and frameworks.Provide technical assistance for third-party systems.Resolve issues related to system performance, bugs, or functionality.Additional Responsibilities | 5%Serve on advisory boards and institutional workgroups.Collaborate with users, developers, and IT staff on large-scale projects and initiatives.Other responsibilities as assigned.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field — or an equivalent combination of education, certifications, and relevant professional experience. Associate's degree or industry-recognized certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate, AWS Certified Developer, CompTIA, or equivalent) may be considered in place of formal education or to supplement experience.At least two years of progressive experience in one or more of the following areas:Systems analysisApplication developmentProgrammingWeb application developmentDatabase managementCloud-based software solutionsDemonstrated ability to apply technical expertise to solve real-world problems, even if gained in adjacent industries or through non-traditional career pathways.A personal commitment to the Christian faith and to the integration of faith and learning.A commitment to the educational mission of Whitworth University as a comprehensive Christian liberal arts university affiliated with the Presbyterian church.Core CompetenciesAbility to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Effective written and verbal communication.Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.Preferred QualificationsProficiency with Microsoft Visual Studio, Object-oriented programming and C#,Experience with web technologies including HTML5, CSS3,JavaScript, MVC and JavaScript frameworks such as ReactFamiliarity with version control systems such as Gitand CI/CD pipelinesExperience developing within AWS environments and on-prem Windows Server environmentsExperience with no/low-code development platforms like Nintex K2Knowledge of Windows Server system administration, including IISand shell scriptingMicrosoft SQL Server database administration experienceScheduleFull-time (1.0 FTE) | 12 months | 40 hours per weekWhitworth office hours are 8 AM to 4:30 PM Monday – FridayFlexible or hybrid work schedules are available after training and the initial appointment period.Whitworth University is a Christian liberal arts university.
