Together, we aim to turn our vision into reality.About the TeamThe Manufacturing team handles process development, fabrication strategy, and production equipment for Terran R, our next-generation reusable rocket. Responsibilities include factory layout, developing complex tooling, and collaborating with vehicle engineering to influence rocket design. We translate engineering requirements into optimized production lines, working cross-functionally to enhance the vehicle program.About the RoleAs a Principal Automation Control Systems Engineer, you will lead and grow a team focused on expanding factory automation within manufacturing. Your role includes architecting automation solutions for various manufacturing projects, from quick interim setups to large infrastructure. You will collaborate with mechanical, manufacturing, and design engineers to develop tailored solutions, and own the implementation, including writing and debugging control software with technicians, operators, and end users.Your projects will vary in size and complexity, including:Driving technical direction of factory automationArchitecting solutions to improve speed, quality, and efficiencyLarge multi-axis CNC systemsRobotic assembly and inspection equipmentAbout YouBachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering or related field18+ years experience with CNC (Fanuc, Siemens), robotics (Fanuc, Kuka, ABB), or automation systems (Beckhoff)Experience designing, managing, and executing robotic and automation systems in a production environmentProficiency in control system software (CNC, PLCs, motor drives)Ability to design and implement industrial safety systems, including risk assessmentsSkill in identifying and mitigating complex system risksPreferred QualificationsExperience with electrical and pneumatic documentationExperience programming Siemens CNCs/PLCsFamiliarity with robotics control systems (Kuka, Fanuc, ABB)Knowledge of communication protocols such as Profinet, Ethernet, EtherCAT, CANbusAdditional InformationRelativity Space values transparency and fairness in compensation, which is determined based on experience and qualifications.
