Sr. Data Engineer

Overview CGS Federal (Contact Government Services) is seeking a passionate and driven Data Engineer to support a rapidly growing Data Analytics and Business Intelligence platform focused on delivering solutions that empower federal customers to turn data into actionable insights. The ideal candidate is a critical thinker and perpetual learner, eager to gain exposure across a range of technologies while solving challenging client problems. Base pay range $144,768.00/yr - $209,109.33/yr Employment type Full-Time, Mid-level Department Business Intelligence Responsibilities Complete development efforts across data pipelines to store, manage, and provision data to data consumers Be an active and collaborative member of an Agile/Scrum team and follow Agile/Scrum best practices Write code to ensure the performance and reliability of data extraction and processing Support continuous process automation for data ingest Advocate for lean–agile engineering principles and practices such as API-first design, simple design, CI, version control, and automated testing Work with program management and engineers to implement and document complex and evolving requirements Promote a customer-service oriented, innovative, collaborative, and team-focused work environment Collaborate with cross-functional teams including UX researchers and designers, product managers, engineers, and other specialists Qualifications Must be a US Citizen Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance 7+ years of IT experience including design, management, and solutioning of large, complex data sets and models Experience developing data pipelines from diverse sources, including structured and unstructured data Proficiency in ETL development and test/validation steps Proficiency with data manipulation languages such as Python, R, SQL, and SAS Strong knowledge of big data analysis and storage tools and technologies Strong understanding of agile principles and the ability to apply them Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and the ability to apply them Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) Preferred qualifications Experience creating and consuming APIs Experience with DHS; knowledge of DHS standards is a plus Extensive experience with Python Ability to develop visualizations using Tableau or Power BI Experience developing shell scripts on Linux Experience translating business and technical requirements into data strategies and analytic solutions Strong ability to communicate across all levels of the organization and to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences Our commitment CGS Federal strives to simplify and enhance government operations by optimizing human, technical, and financial resources.
