The Ad Serving Engineering organization within Disney Entertainment and ESPN is responsible for building, enhancing and maintaining the high-performance, distributed, microservice-based Digital Advertising Platform that handles qualification, delivery, and tracking of Digital Advertising campaigns (Video on Demand, Live TV, and interactive ads) across Disney properties including Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+.As a Senior Software Engineer on the Ad Serving team, you will apply your knowledge to deliver scalable, performant, maintainable, and testable software.What You’ll Do: On a daily basis you should bring a willingness to communicate and collaborate across teams, an ownership mindset, a passion for mentoring and learning in a dynamic environment, an understanding of microservice encapsulation and loose coupling, and the ability to define technical and operational metrics to measure system health and manage risk.ResponsibilitiesWriting and reviewing code and testsUnderstanding and use of automated tools (AI) while adhering to company policyAvailable for a weekly-rotating On-Call support scheduleReading requirements documentation from Product and translating into implementation ticketsReviewing, learning, and documenting software and system designs in a high throughput, low latency microservices environmentEnhancing systems’ observability with proper metrics, monitors and alertsBasic QualificationsBS in Computer Science / Engineering or relevant work experience5+ years of software engineering experienceProficiency with JavaDemonstrable analytical / problem solving skillsGreat communication, collaboration skills and a strong teamwork ethic with both technical and non-technical audiencesPreferred QualificationsMS in Computer Science / EngineeringSpringBoot and related Spring projects; willingness to learn and apply best practicesNon-relational database technologies e.g. DynamoDBRedis and/or MemCacheApache Kafka and/or KinesisAWS or other cloud platformTerraform, Docker and KubernetesAd Tech industry experienceAdditional InformationThe hiring range for this position in Santa Monica, California is $136,038 to $182,490 per year and in Glendale, California is $136,038 to $182,490 per year. The base pay offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on region, knowledge, skills, and experience.
