OverviewAre you ready to lead the development of data-driven solutions to Spectrum's business challenges as a Principal Data Scientist I? In this role, you will utilize your analytical, statistical, and programming skills to clean, aggregate, and analyze large data sets, interpreting results to provide valuable insights. You will apply your strong command of statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms to determine key areas for investment, synthesize actionable findings, and present them to audiences with diverse agendas and varying technical expertise.ResponsibilitiesPlan and lead the data science lifecycle, including requirements gathering, data exploration, model prototyping, validation, and productionalizationEnsure data science products are flexible, modular, and have a reusable code baseIdentify future technical needs to enhance organizational capabilitiesCoordinate technical activities across projects and the organizationInteract with stakeholders to understand business needs, communicate project status, and build relationshipsAnticipate hurdles and recommend solutions aligned with business requirementsLead exploratory data analyses for new data sources and uses, establishing data correlationsMentor and train junior team members, setting strategic vision for projectsWorking ConditionsOffice environmentWhat You'll Bring to SpectrumRequired QualificationsEducationBachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, operations research and/or equivalent combination of education and experienceExperience8+ years of data manipulation and statistical modeling as a Scientist, Consultant, Architect, DBA, or Engineer8+ years of SQL/R/SAS programming3+ years of leading the design, development and deployment of machine learning and analytics modelsSkillsAdvanced-level skills in one or more scripting, analysis, or ETL languages, ability to read and adapt others/' code, and quickly learn new languages or techniquesExpert-level skills with R and/or Python (including relevant packages) in support of advanced analyticsStrong foundation in major machine learning model families (regression, decision trees, clustering, SVMs, neural networks)Experience with modern ML tools to produce model scoring codeStrong mathematical foundation (calculus, probability, statistics) and ability to learn additional concepts independentlyAbility to synthesize and present results to leadership and diverse audiencesUnderstanding of data architecture, data warehouse and data martsDesire to continually expand skills and to teach othersExperience with NoSQL, key-value, columnar, graph, and document storesExtensive experience with large data sets and tools for obtaining, transforming, and storing data on Big Data and streaming servicesProficiency with Linux/Unix/CentOSPattern recognition and predictive modeling skillsAttention to detail with ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasksAbility to identify and resolve end-to-end performance, network, server, cloud, and platform issuesPreferred QualificationsEducationMaster's degree in a related fieldExperienceHadoop, Hive, Spark, and/or SnowflakeBackground with cable and/or telecommunicationsAdditional Information#LI-KB2Here, our employees don't just have jobs, they're building careers. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
