We value winning together—while learning, having fun, and making a profound difference for the dreamers and builders in the world.We are looking for a hardware engineer who is passionate about hardware and the software that enables it.Reporting to the Manager of Infrastructure Engineering Design, you will work to improve how we manage the lifecycle of hardware utilized across all DigitalOcean products and components and join a team of engineers who have already paved the way for the many tens of thousands of servers in our infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be eager to face new challenges as DigitalOcean continues to scale its data center footprint and explore new technologies to bring to our customers.What You’ll DoWork with internal engineers to improve the out-of-the-box experience for new and existing serversOnboarding new hardware into our existing systemsCreate and enhance tooling for ongoing and end of life operationsAssist in troubleshooting cause of failures and work to prevent them in the futureWhat We’ll Expect From YouTechnical Degree (BS Computer Science/Engineering) or equivalent practical experienceKnowledge of configuration management best-practices (we use Ansible and Chef)Comfortable in Linux (or Unix) operating systems. You’ll be spending a lot of time working in one!Familiarity with industry standard tooling and functionality. IPMI/Redfish, PXE, UEFI, etc.Familiarity with networking, os installation workflows and troubleshooting when they go wrongExperience with version control systems (we use Git) and proficient in at least one programming language (such as Python or Go)An insatiable passion for constant improvementWhy You’ll Like Working For DigitalOceanWe innovate with purpose. The salary range for this position is between $107,600 - $134,500 based on market data, relevant years of experience, and skills. You may qualify for a bonus in addition to base salary; bonus amounts are determined based on company and individual performance.
