Back End Developer

Base pay range $75.00/yr - $82.00/yr Our client, a leading global financial software company, is seeking a Senior Back End Engineer to join their team on a 1-year contract based in San Diego, CA. This role will focus on building and maintaining highly scalable Java/GoLang backend services, with an emphasis on API Gateway, distributed systems, and Kubernetes. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of secure, resilient systems that support millions of customers. The role begins as a 1 year W2 contract offering a hybrid schedule in San Diego, competitive benefits, and the potential to extend or convert to permanent employment! Key Responsibilities: Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure backend services for the Traffic Platform. Collaborate with developers, architects, and product managers to deliver backend solutions aligned with product requirements. Identify and resolve issues related to performance, scalability, and security. Develop automated tests, monitoring, and tooling to ensure product reliability. Manage and monitor production systems; respond to incidents in a timely and effective manner. Stay current with emerging backend technologies and integrate best practices into the platform. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. 3+ years of professional experience in backend software development. Strong expertise with API Gateway (traffic management, API lifecycle, and security). Hands-on programming experience in Java or GoLang (C++ also accepted). Experience working with distributed systems and scalable architectures. Proficiency with Kubernetes and containerized environments. Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP). Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
