The center emphasizes energy-efficient design, high-performance circuits, and collaboration with industry partners to transfer technology. Research areas include highly-integrated CMOS implementations, advanced algorithms, and architectures for future wireless and wireline systems.Energy efficient analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuitsEnhanced design automation and design methodologies for analog, digital and mixed-signal chipsRF, mm-Wave, and Terahertz circuits; data converters and analog signal chainsNew radio system architectures for 5G+ with energy efficiency, low latency, and robustnessAlgorithms and signal processing for next-generation SoC designHigh-speed wireline communication circuitsBio-medical and neurobiological circuits and systemsWearable technology and human-machine interactionsNew materials and technologies including photonics and flexible electronicsThe position requires significant knowledge and expertise in building and maintaining technical infrastructure with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to align with BWRC priorities. Autonomy is balanced with collaboration across BWRC and external partners.Responsibilities30% Operating Systems and Applications Performance Analysis and Management: perform advanced performance analysis of infrastructure computing systems; install, modify and support operating systems and related tools; patch production systems with testing; evaluate new OS releases; conduct performance testing and interoperability verification with research teams.20% Computing Infrastructure Architecture and Design: design and implement advanced computing systems to meet performance demands; manage computing platforms, storage, networks, and security; specify enhancements and budget justifications; manage centralized compute servers and storage.20% Research User Support: diagnose and resolve complex computer system and software issues for faculty, researchers, staff and collaborators; create support documentation.15% Systems Security: perform security controls and audits to protect BWRC information assets; maintain security systems and access controls.15% Systems and Applications Programming: perform complex systems programming and support; design and implement systems to support research needs.Required QualificationsAbility to elicit and communicate technical and non-technical information clearlySelf-motivated, able to work independently and in a team; strong problem-solving skills; able to learn quickly and meet deadlinesBasic knowledge of applying technologies to meet business needsAbility to write technical documentation clearlyUnderstanding of system performance monitoring and optimizationBroad knowledge of IT and experience with system-related performance improvementsExperience adapting equipment to user needs and understanding impact on related systemsAdvanced knowledge and skills in identifying and resolving complex system problems; experience with design, configuration, repair and tuning of technology systemsAdvanced experience writing and editing complex scripts for system maintenance and administrationAdvanced knowledge of computer security best practices and securing server-based softwareExperience leading a team of IT professionalsBachelor/'s degree in a related field or equivalent experience/trainingSalary & BenefitsFor information on the comprehensive benefits package, please visit the UC Berkeley Compensation & Benefits website.
