Software Virtualization - Core VirtualizationJoin to apply for the Software Virtualization - Core Virtualization role at Red Hat.Job SummaryThe Red Hat Enterprise Linux Engineering team is seeking an experienced developer to join as a Senior Software Engineer in our Core Virtualization team. You will design, develop, and integrate new Core Virtualization features into Layered Products such as OpenShift Virtualization (KubeVirt and Kubernetes). This involves collaborating with communities like QEMU, Libvirt, and KubeVirt, as well as internal teams and partners on upstream contributions, maintainership, and downstream integration. This position is based in Lowell, Massachusetts, with options for remote work, including exceptional remote applicants.Primary Job ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop features in KubeVirtCoordinate with Quality Engineering on test plans and documentation teams for coverageParticipate in peer code reviewsEngage in architectural discussions on system design, APIs, and inter-dependencies of Core Virtualization componentsCollaborate with other engineering teams within Red HatTroubleshoot, brainstorm, and deliver fixes for internal and external customersRequired SkillsUnderstanding of Linux OS and scripting languagesProficiency in C or C++, and Python; Golang and Rust experience are a plusExperience with Linux-based operating systemsKnowledge of open source communitiesExperience with container-based applications and Kubernetes/OpenShift internalsFull professional proficiency in EnglishPreferred SkillsUnderstanding of Virtualization technologiesDeep knowledge of Kubernetes/OpenShift internalsThe salary range is $108,760 - $173,800, based on qualifications.BenefitsMedical, dental, vision coverageFlexible Spending Accounts and Health Savings AccountRetirement 401(k) with employer matchPaid time off, holidays, parental leave, and other leave benefitsAdditional perks like stock purchase plans, tuition reimbursement, and moreNote: Benefits apply to full-time, permanent U.S. employees.About Red HatRed Hat is a leading provider of open source solutions, with a global presence.
