Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world.Raytheon is currently seeking a Principal Test Equipment Design Engineer to join the Sensor Test Solutions (STS) Department. This is an excellent position for engineers with a background in electrical design and software programming/automation, along with a desire to apply those skills to developing, building, and integrating advanced test platforms and architectures.You will be joining a project team responsible for the development of test solutions and architectures for various programs within Raytheon. Typical test development applications include analog/digital, RF, High Power, and embedded software/firmware design activities. Test architectures include a blend of customized and COTS Automatic Test Equipment (ATE), along with custom electro-mechanical holding fixtures and associated interface cabling and harnessing.Engineers in this role will also have exposure to the full lifecycle development process - from the requirements definition phase of the test solution design process through the verification and final system sell-off in a production facility or field/depot environment.What You Will DoWork with internal and external partners on the design and deployment of complex factory test systemsLead development of test hardware, software, and/or firmware through its development cycle, from requirements definition through deployment at manufacturing or customer facilities. These test capabilities may span disciplines (Power, RF, Analog, Digital) and domains (hardware, software, firmware)Work with Prime Engineering, Production, and Operations teams early in development cycle to identify capability and capacity needs for manufacturing test and ensure smooth deployment to manufacturing facilitiesActively identify test readiness issues and optimizations through the development lifecycleLead medium-to-large sized teams to meet project budget, schedule, and performance commitmentsProvide technical leadership to employees in support of their specific work assignmentsEngage in personal technical growth and encourage technical growth in peers and junior engineers through mentoring activitiesPrepare and clearly present project status to functional and program leadershipUnderstand and report financial & earned value status for monthly reporting cycleProactively manage and mitigate Risks and OpportunitiesSupport Manufacturing operations, including on-site troubleshooting and debugging, both independently and in collaboration with design engineering teamsContribute to cost, schedule, and technical solutions for bid and proposal developmentQualifications You Must HaveTypically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant engineering experienceExperience in an engineering design and development environment with at least four (4) years of direct experience with Test Equipment design and development tasksExperience leading technical teams and projectsUS Citizen - Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
