Help form the foundation of our ambitious, creative, diverse and inclusive team as we embark on this exciting journey!We are making room for a talented Software Engineer with a passion for innovative and engaging experiences to help us realize our vision of player-driven narrative in a AAA Action RPG. This engineer’s primary area of ownership will be within our highly innovative Open Story system. This will include furthering our development of Dialog and Conversation systems, as well as facilitating other potential aspects of our Presentation team needs such as Camera systems and Facial Animation pipeline and workflow. This engineer will have the support of their technical lead and an engineering manager to ensure professional growth and well-being. As a member of our highly collaborative team, your influence will span as much of our codebase and design as your skills and interest dictate.Responsibilities:Work with technical lead and collaborate with stakeholders across the team to flesh out the interconnected systems that will power our ‘Open Story’ Narrative design and Presentation system.Work with a mix of technical and less technical stakeholders to establish requirementsWork with technical leadership and production on accurate schedulingDesign, author, iterate on and maintain systems to meet all functional, technical, and schedule requirementsSupport systems with documentation and tooling for debugging, automation and testingWork with QA and technical leadership to ensure stability and robustness of systemsHelp grow your knowledge and skills and that of those around you by interacting regularly with your peers via impromptu conversations, technical discussions and code reviewsBe supportive of those around you and open to exploring, proposing or adopting new ideas, technologies and practicesQualifications:Eager collaborator and effective communicator with both engineers and content creatorsExperience with dynamic narrative, branching dialogue, interactive fiction a plusExperience with Unreal Engine a plusPassion for excellence in both your individual contributions and the overall quality of the gameAppreciation for robust, maintainable, easily readable codeB.S. degree in Computer Science or equivalent3+ years of professional C/C++ experienceUS COMPENSATION AND BENEFITSThe base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these states. Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.BASE SALARY RANGESCalifornia (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. Sacramento): $130,250 - $199,400New York (depending on location e.g. Manhattan vs. Buffalo): $120,450 - $199,400Jersey City, NJ: $147,400 - $199,400Colorado (depending on location e.g. Denver vs. Colorado Springs): $120,450 - $161,750Washington (depending on location e.g. Seattle vs. Spokane): $120,450 - $188,600Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees.
