We’re searching for a Staff Software Engineer - Vehicle PlatformsIn this role, you willDefine vehicle compute and network architecturePerform bring up of new vehicle platformsIntegrate new sensors and embedded devices and build interfaces for autonomy softwareDefine network connectivity from vehicle to offboard servicesAddress vehicle-specific concerns for vehicle runtime, e.g. vehicle stack configuration, networking stack configuration, performance, hardware health monitoring, and networking monitoringEvolve the fleet from a collection of individual vehicles into a full service platform with integrated metrics and monitoringOptimize performance on CPU and GPU and other limited onboard hardware resourcesWork with autonomy engineers to meet latency requirements for sensor dataUtilize HIL (hardware-in-the-loop) test infrastructure to automatically verify onboard code changes and profile performanceProvide engineering support for field testing and fleet operationsRequired QualificationsBS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent industry experienceStrong programming skills in C++Ability to work across multiple programming languages and paradigmsExperience working with networking protocols, such as TCP, UDP, CAN bus protocols, RTP, gRPC, TFTP, passion for writing robust, intuitive, high-performance code, and being pragmatic about itA passion to work at the hardware/software interfaceAbility to navigate and work effectively in large codebasesGood communication skills and the ability to work efficiently with cross functional and geographically dispersed teamsDesirable QualificationsExperience working with various sensors, e.g. lidars, radars, cameras, audio, etc.Experience with performance evaluation and optimization.Hardware health monitoring frameworksDesigning and understanding complex software systems and interplay between system componentsTime sensitive networking protocols, e.g. PTP, gPTP, etc.Experience with safety critical systemsCCNA/CCNP/JNCIP or equivalent networking industry experienceGood understanding of ethernet switching and interaction between OSI layers 1, 2, 3 and 4Linux network configuration and troubleshootingThe base salary range for this position is $162,000.00-$260,000.00 per year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
