Overview Northrop Grumman is seeking a Digital Engineering Manager based out of San Diego, CA. The Manager Digital Engineering 1 - R10205519 role focuses on leading a team of digital/VHDL engineers within the San Diego Engineering and Sciences (E&S) Software and Digital Technologies (SWDT) department. The role combines people leadership with hands-on technical work on programs involving communications systems. We are looking for you to join our team as a Digital Engineering Manager based out of San Diego, CA. What You'll Get To Do The digital engineering manager will lead a section of approximately 10-15 digital/VHDL engineers working within the San Diego Engineering and Sciences (E&S) Software and Digital Technologies (SWDT) department. The successful candidate will lead direct report employees based on organizational goals, program activity, and company policies. Specific responsibilities include staffing, recruiting, training, conducting performance reviews, evaluating/recommending promotions, coordinating with HR on salary adjustments, assisting employees in setting performance goals, providing career guidance, and counseling employees on performance as necessary. Program Execution and Engineering Excellence are our driving forces. The manager will also be a technical performer, contributing on programs involving communications systems within our F-35, F-22, CNI Production, Advanced Communications, or Small Forms Factors operating units (OU), representing the Engineering and Sciences organization. Responsibilities include cultivating an inclusive and engaging workplace; ensuring work-life balance; maintaining staffing adequate to execute program plans; planning assignments and addressing program needs to ensure success and growth opportunities for team members. Support the creation, updating, and maintenance of digital engineering processes. Basic Qualifications BS + 5 years of experience in a related STEM field; MS + 3 years of experience. Significant direct experience in the field of digital and VHDL engineering. Excellent written and oral communication skills; able to work independently and within groups. Ability to facilitate/mediate in conflict resolution matters. Knowledge of the engineering development process, VHDL design and verification. Active Secret Clearance. Must be able to work on site at the Rancho Carmel facility. Preferred Qualifications MS in Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM field, with 8 or more years of technical experience. Current staffing on a program within the CS (Communications Solutions) Business Unit. Experience as a functional manager or technical team leader. Experience with VHDL design or advanced verification for FPGAs. Experience with AMD/Xilinx series including Zynq, Kintex, Ultrascale, Versal devices. Experience with Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools: Vivado, Quartus, QuestaSim. Knowledgeable in FPGA physical constraints and timing closure. Generation of test benches and support of formal VHDL verification. Experience with board-level debug using test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, logic analyzers). Experience translating system requirements into programmable logic requirements, design documents, and test specifications. Hands-on experience with DoD communications systems. Direct supervisory experience and/or significant team leadership (IPT lead). Current direct program duties within the F-35, AC, or SF3C Operating Units. Familiarity with EVMS reporting and CAM responsibilities. Familiarity with other organizational functions such as supply chain, procurement, logistics, and mission assurance. DOD Top Secret and SAR highly preferred. Knowledge of F-35 and F-22 communications systems and associated waveforms. Salary and Benefits Primary Level Salary Range: $129,900.00 - $194,900.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate/'s experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
