Job Summary The Regional Director Corporate Security will lead and oversee all security operations within the Atlanta market, developing a comprehensive and effective security program ensuring the safety and security of our properties, residents, and employees. This role will collaborate with local law enforcement, implement security technologies, and develop strategies to manage risk. Responsibilities Direct the development of an effective strategy to assess and mitigate risk, maintain continuity of operations, and safeguard the organization; drive strategic planning, direction, and goal setting for UT Security for Progress Residential, including operational and tactical plans. Develop and communicate the overall strategy for the Atlanta market that addresses current risks and anticipates future challenges, aligning it with Progress Residential’s business objectives. Create and implement security policies and standards that adhere to industry best practices and legal requirements. Identify, prioritize, develop, and implement physical security measures, emergency preparedness and response plans, and investigations. Provide advice and counsel to cross functional partners and Market Leadership on matters relating to employee, resident and property safety and security. Define key security metrics, tracking, and reporting for all Security Operations activities. Conduct comprehensive and structured interviews with internal personnel and external contacts when suspicions of misconduct or irregularities arise, including initial fact-finding and in-depth investigative discussions. Collaborate closely with Human Resources and the Legal Department to ensure interview procedures adhere to legal standards and company policies, protecting employee rights and aligning with best practices. Collaborate with external counsel on investigations and interviews. Act as the primary liaison between Progress Residential and high-ranking officers within local and federal law enforcement agencies. Build and maintain professional relationships internally and externally, developing a network of counterparts in both the public and private sectors. Participate in local, state, and federal working or advisory groups to stay updated on security-related information, directives, and events. Lead major investigations and critical event responses in coordination with law enforcement and other officials or agencies. Develop and coordinate the management of educational opportunities and community engagement opportunities. Develop and align the mission and values of the Corporate Security function with the mission and values of the business. Lead and manage functional teams, including recruiting, developing, mentoring, retaining, and coaching members for exceptional performance. Complete projects by allocating resources and coordinating with respective stakeholders, cross-functional partnerships, vendors, and contractors. 24/7 Incident Response Management: lead the incident response process, coordinating efforts to identify, investigate, and respond to security incidents while communicating with stakeholders to keep them informed and engaged. Develop and maintain emergency preparedness and response plans and protocols for various situations. Identify and evaluate financial and operational risks, develop risk mitigation strategies, and provide guidance to the organization on risk-related matters. Conduct risk assessments and implement controls to minimize exposure to potential risks. Keep senior leadership and relevant stakeholders informed about security developments, potential threats, and preventive measures. Oversee security operations and logistics for large-scale corporate events and high-profile visits. Maintain the OSHA 300A-log, reporting requirements and respond to OSHA complaints. Oversee the organization’s OSHA Safety program and OSHA training. Regularly analyze safety programs, making appropriate short and long-term recommendations for ongoing safety protocols. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or related field. (Preferred) 7+ years of experience, preferably including a leadership role in law enforcement, risk investigations, or corporate security. 5+ years of experience in a people leader role. Strong understanding of the Atlanta security landscape and existing relationships with local law enforcement agencies. Law Enforcement experience highly preferred Familiarity with modern security technologies, systems, and best practices. Strong analytical, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Adaptable and able to thrive in high-pressure situations. Familiarity with a wide array of laws pertaining to property, privacy, and corporate security. Ability to travel to areas of responsibility within region, when needed (25%) Experience with OSHA Safety regulations and safety program requirements preferred Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, to engage with a diverse set of stakeholders.
