Applicants must be able to demonstrate visionary leadership, analytical decision-making, professional flexibility, and an empathic management style that builds bold teams and delivers globally significant results.Position DescriptionReporting to the VP, Strategic Philanthropy, the Senior Director, Institutional Giving will develop a robust corporate and foundation giving program at U.S. Soccer during a period of department and organizational growth. The position will create and oversee fundraising strategy for grant processes across U.S. Soccer and will be responsible for the complete lifecycle of grants, including identification, internal and external research, proposal development, reporting, and continued stewardship, as well as corporate philanthropy. The Director will build strong, long-lasting relationships with funders and will work closely with colleagues across the organization to identify opportunities and develop proposals. This role will also manage a Senior Coordinator, Institutional Giving. They will be a leader in efforts to expand an institution-wide focus on philanthropy.Primary ResponsibilitiesCreate and maintain a coordinated and informed institutional strategy within a corporate and foundation focused portfolio that supports organization-wide strategic initiatives, in partnership with VP, Strategic PhilanthropyManage the grant cycle for a portfolio of six-, seven-, and eight- figure private and corporate foundation grantors and governing body organizations, including prospect research and identification, writing competitive proposals, and interim/final reports, collecting relevant documentation and support materials, accurately booking revenue, and maintaining deadlinesWork collaboratively with colleagues and leadership across U.S. Soccer to align grant opportunities with organizational priority areas and develop proposalsCollaborate with the Commercial team to align and optimize corporate relationships across the Federation, identifying opportunities for corporate foundation support from both existing and prospective partnersPartner with internal teams to develop holistic and complementary strategies for corporate support, including corporate philanthropy, corporate foundation giving, matching gifts, employee support, grassroots efforts, and to brainstorm creative corporate philanthropic engagement approachesCreate and maintain strong relationships with funders and prospective fundersDevelop and maintain best practices in grant processes, communications, and reporting requirementsPromote a culture of philanthropy across federation staff, stakeholders, and entire organizationSupport overall goals of the development teamOther duties as assignedRequirementsMinimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree or higher in related field requiredMinimum 10+ years of proven experience in grant procurement, management, and administration, and corporate philanthropy with proven success in launching or scaling new revenue streams through institutional partnershipsSuperior writing, interpersonal, listening, and relationship-building skillsAbility to work cross-functionally to align fundraising efforts with brand, mission, and programmatic goals.General knowledge of soccerCapable of working in fast-paced and demanding environmentsMust be able to connect “micro” details to the “macro” vision and missionProficient experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)Desired QualificationsExperience in Salesforce valuedExperience in sports nonprofit environment valuedU.S. Soccer offers a comprehensive compensation package, casual work environment, an inclusive culture, and an atmosphere for professional development.U.S. Soccer is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any kind on the basis of race, color, sex, religion, national origin, citizenship, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, genetic information, military status, political belief, or any other characteristic protected under the law.
