Significant knowledge of taxation related to personal income, estate and gift tax and wealth retention strategies, as well as taxation of entities owned by business owners (partnership and corporate taxation), is required.Job SummaryJOB DESCRIPTIONThe Tax Senior Manager, Private Client Services assists in providing tax compliance and consulting services to our high net worth clients. Significant knowledge of taxation related to personal income, estate and gift tax and wealth retention strategies, as well as taxation of entities owned by business owners (partnership and corporate taxation), is required.Job DutiesReviews basic to complex individual and other tax returnsIdentifies and performs research when needed and reports and documents the analysis and findingsInteracts directly with clients and their advisorsCommunicates with supervisors, engagement team and clients the status of projectsAssists with administrative responsibilities including billing and cash collection activities, recruiting, attendance and participation in CPE activities and trainingManages client engagements, supervises, and reviews work of team membersDemonstrates an understanding of tax concepts and actively pursues increased tax knowledge through client engagements and current tax developmentsIdentifies tax planning and consulting opportunitiesParticipates in and initiates business development and networking activitiesManages and monitors key performance indicators (KPI’s) as established by the business lineInvolves firm specialists and other business lines to increase cross service opportunitiesOther duties as requiredSupervisory ResponsibilitiesSupervises develops and trains employeesSupervises associates, senior associates and managers on all projectsReviews work prepared by associates and senior associates and provides review commentsTrains others on how to use all current software tools and PCS methodologySchedules and manages workload of associates and senior associatesActs as a Career Advisor to associates and senior associatesProvides verbal and written performance feedback to associates and senior associatesEducationQualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, requiredMaster’s degree in Accounting or Taxation, preferredAddition Juris Doctorate (JD) or Master of Laws (LLM) in Taxation, preferredExperienceSeven (7) or more years of public accounting and private client services experience, requiredPublic accounting experience working in the private client area, preferredLicense/CertificationsCPA or Licensed Attorney, requiredCFP or Masters in Tax, preferredSoftwareExperience with Gosystems and BNA Tax Planner, preferredExperience with the Microsoft Office Suite, preferredLanguageN/AOther Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsDetailed orientedStrong analytical, research and critical thinking skillsSolid organizational skills, especially the ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on detailsAbility to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environmentProven ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneouslyAbility to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firmBasic knowledge of fundamental accounting, finance and tax principlesGeneral accounting knowledge and basic to intermediate tax knowledgeGeneral understanding of financial planning conceptsAbility to effectively delegate workCapable of effectively developing and maintaining client relationshipsExecutive presence and ability to act as primary client contact for preparation and presentation of issues and resolution to clientsIndividual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.California Range: $146,000 - $200,000Colorado Range: $120,000 - $185,000Maryland Range: $152,000 - $188,000NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $175,000 - $205,000Washington Range: $150,000 - $200,000Washington DC Range: $156,000 - $200,000About UsJoin us at BDO, where you will find more than a career, you’ll find a place where your work is impactful, and you are valued for your individuality.
