Read further to learn how you could help make great things possible not only in your community, but around the world.Highway & Roads Market Sector DirectorPrimary ResponsibilitiesMarket Sector Directors (MSD) are part of HDR's matrix management structure that drive our business. The HDR Highway & Roads (H&R) market sector is the largest, representing nearly $1B in annual revenue globally. It includes clients that own and operate highways, toll roads, city, town, and local roads, and bridge structures. HDR provides professional services such as bridge and highway design, traffic engineering, transportation planning, and tolling services.This role requires understanding of H&R clients, their funding, revenue streams, and governmental structures at various levels. The responsibilities are divided into:Market leadership and business development (~70%)Staff development (20%)Support to Operations (10%)The Market Sector Director sets the strategy for growth, supports regional and area leadership, and manages client relationships and business development efforts. They coordinate with various leadership and practice groups to implement growth initiatives and develop staff to meet financial goals.The role involves expanding HDR’s client base domestically and internationally, engaging with local clients, and providing comprehensive services across HDR’s expertise areas.Specific responsibilities include overseeing business development, serving as a client manager, leading strategic pursuits, representing HDR in industry associations, and developing industry partnerships.Staff development involves managing P&L, driving technical excellence, staffing, and participating in performance reviews. Support to operations includes monitoring performance indicators, project delivery, and quality assurance.QualificationsPreferred: 20+ years in highway or bridge planning/engineering, PE license, leadership in industry associations.Required: Bachelor's in Engineering, 12+ years of industry and leadership experience, strong communication and client management skills, business acumen, and a commitment to HDR’s employee-owned culture.Additional InformationHDR promotes an inclusive environment through Employee Network Groups, offers comprehensive benefits, and values diversity.
