Job DescriptionJob Title: Chief Financial OfficerWage/Hour Status: ExemptReports to: SuperintendentPay Grade: AP-9Days: 226Dept./School: Business Office DepartmentFunding Source: [Specify]Primary Purpose:Responsible for oversight of all financial and business affairs of the district. Provide leadership for the district’s business services to ensure legally sound and effective management practices. Direct and monitor the management and investment of all district funds, ensuring they are protected. Serve as chief business and budget advisor to the superintendent and board of trustees.Qualifications:Education/Certification:Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or related fieldMaster’s degree in related field (preferred)Certified Public Accountant (preferred)Satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check (non-refundable fee approximately $50 paid by employee)Special Knowledge/Skills:Advanced knowledge of school finance, budgeting, accounting systems, and economicsKnowledge of information/data processing systems and business applicationsAbility to resolve conflicts, listen, and respond appropriatelyDemonstrated leadership skillsAbility to manage budgets and personnelAbility to implement policies and proceduresAbility to interpret dataExcellent communication, public relations, and interpersonal skillsExperience:Five years’ experience in school business management or private sector financial managementMinimum of three years’ experience as a senior manager in planning, organizing, and executingMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Financial ManagementEnsure accuracy of all district financial records and reports according to TEA standardsDevelop and monitor district’s financial objectives and budgetAct as financial advisor to superintendent and board, informing them of financial statusMaintain and oversee district’s investment portfolio, ensuring funds are protected and invested wiselyEnsure timely payment of obligationsImplement internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure data reliabilityOversee audits and cooperate with auditorsAdminister the business office budget, ensuring cost-effectivenessPolicies, Reports, and LawReview and recommend policies and regulationsImplement applicable federal, state, and local policiesMaintain reports and records, including financial statements, federal fund reports, and annual financial reports in accordance with ASBO standardsPersonnel ManagementRecruit, train, evaluate, and supervise department staffDevelop training and improvement plansOtherAttend board meetings and present information as neededSupervisory Responsibilities:Supervise and evaluate the business manager, risk manager, payroll supervisor, and department secretary.Physical and Environmental Demands:Standard office tools and equipmentProlonged sitting, occasional physical activityRepetitive motions, occasional lifting under 15 poundsMay require irregular hours and travelWork may involve stress and interruptionsThis description covers the general responsibilities and is not exhaustive. #J-18808-Ljbffr
