In this role, the Assurance Experienced Associate, Risk Advisory Services will participate in most stages of an internal audit or consulting engagement and provide assistance with planning, field work, engagement wrap up and report composition.Job SummaryJOB DESCRIPTIONThe Assurance Experienced Associate, Risk Advisory Services is responsible for partnering with more experienced Risk Advisory Services professionals to provide risk consulting and issues resolution to clients in the areas of SOX, business process improvement, information technology, audit, and fraud investigations. In this role, the Assurance Experienced Associate, Risk Advisory Services will participate in most stages of an internal audit or consulting engagement and provide assistance with planning, field work, engagement wrap up and report composition.Job DutiesAssists with the informational interviews and facilitation of meetings with clients during engagement processObtains information, documents and data from clients to support the completion of analysis and research of client issuesDocuments and analyzes the client’s processes, risk and controls with guidance and direction from senior Risk Advisory Services professionalsDevelops initial deliverables and/or solutions to client issuesProposes basic recommendations for a risk-based audit planUtilizes research tools, databases and trade publications to develop understanding of client’s industryDevelops relationships with client personnel and management membersAssists with the management of the engagement to ensure engagement metrics are achievedUtilizes research tools, databases and trade publications to develop understanding of client’s industryAssists with the research and drafting of proposalsMaintains all documentation and work papers associated with client engagementsConducts risk assessment of assigned department or functional area in established / required timeline under direct supervisionReviews the suitability of internal control designConducts audit testing of specific area and identifies reportable issues and dimension of riskDetermines compliance with appropriate audit policies and proceduresCommunicates findings to senior management and drafts comprehensive report of audited areaOther duties as requiredEducationQualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, requiredExperienceOne (1) to three (3) years of experience within a public accounting firm or industry environment performing internal audit, consulting or risk services, requiredPrior experience with internal controls including flowcharts, documentation and testing of controls, requiredLicense/CertificationsCPA or CIA certification, preferredSoftwareProficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word, requiredOther Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesSolid understanding and experience planning and coordinating the stages to perform an auditKnowledge of internal accounting controls, professional standards and regulations and systemsStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to adapt style and messaging to effectively communicate with professionals at all levels both within the client organization and the firmAbility to successfully multi-task while working independently and within a group environmentSuperior analytical and diagnostic skillsCapable of working in a demanding, deadline driven environment with a focus on details and accuracyAbility to adapt to rapidly changing environments successfullySolid organizational skills especially ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on detailsCapacity to build and maintain strong relationships with client personnelTravel as neededIndividual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.California Range: $73,000 - $83,000Colorado Range: $73,000 - $83,000Illinois Range: $73,000 - $83,000Maryland Range: $73,000 - $83,000Massachusetts Range: $73,000 - $83,000Minnesota Range: $73,000 - $83,000New Jersey Range: $73,000 - $83,000NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $73,000 - $83,000Washington Range: $73,000 - $83,000Vermont Range: $73,000 - $83,000Washington DC Range: $73,000 - $83,000About UsJoin us at BDO, where you will find more than a career, you’ll find a place where your work is impactful, and you are valued for your individuality.
