Corporate Accounting Manager

OverviewThis role is part of the team responsible for corporate accounting and analysis for a NYSE-listed REIT. It will work closely with the Senior Vice President of Accounting, the Chief Financial Officer, and other key stakeholders.Base pay range: $115,000.00/yr - $135,000.00/yrLocation: Santa Monica, CAResponsibilitiesPrepare all equity related accounting activity including stock-based compensation, equity rollforwards, and average share calculations.Prepare and account for quarterly dividend payments.Record equity transactions in our accounting records and equity system, including share redemptions, share conversions, and changes of address.Assist in the determination of the accounting treatment, review income statement and balance sheet activities, and review payments for a multi-billion dollar portfolio of loans and derivatives.Review hedge effectiveness and fair value testing of derivative instruments.Review corporate-level accounting activity including payroll and general & administrative expenses.Review the calculation and oversee the payment of business licenses across four California jurisdictions and Hawaii general excise taxes.Review property tax bills for reasonableness, oversee payment process, and calculate related expense.Review budget to actual analysis; present to accounting management.Prepare budgets for all corporate accounting areas.Prepare common area maintenance estimates for a portfolio of commercial tenants.Special projects as needed, including technical accounting research.Serve as liaison with external auditors, internal auditors, tax accountants, financial planning and financial reporting teams.QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Accounting and CPA license.4-5 years of experience (Big 4 public accounting or publicly-traded organization).Knowledge of US GAAP; knowledge of real estate industry GAAP is preferred.Strong analytical, problem solving and leadership skills.Meticulous attention to detail.Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel.Ability to develop creative solutions to problems.Ability to multi-task and handle changing priorities.Ability to meet monthly and quarterly closing deadlines.About Douglas EmmettDouglas Emmett, Inc. is one of the largest owners and operators of Class-A office buildings and luxury apartment communities located in the premier coastal submarkets of Los Angeles and Honolulu.
