Senior Managers must have a complete knowledge of the firm's philosophy and the culture. Senior Managers must maintain and develop expertise in the niche areas they service. Senior Managers are the liaison between the Partner, the client, and the professional staff.Primary ResponsibilitiesMaintains steady contact with clients throughout the business year, which involves a thorough knowledge of the client and all facets of the client's business rather than mere routine attendance to immediate problemsReviews all returns with the exception of those dealing with specialized issues requiring the expertise of another Senior ManagerActs as a resource for tax staff, senior tax accountants, and tax ManagersCommunicates tax developments to the firmRepresents clients before the IRSDelegates work to tax staff, senior tax accountants, and supervises workParticipates in tax department administrative projectsExhibits time management and organization skillsReviews staff assignments, making certain they are appropriate; since this is a continuing duty, the Senior Manager must be fully familiar with the qualifications of all staff membersFollows the progress of the work in relation to budgeted time and scheduled dates of completion and anticipates the problem areas and questions that might ariseKeeps the Partner informed of all important developments in the engagement, analyzes any issues and recommends solutionsResolves problems with the Partner's approval and reviews the returnsDeals directly with the client's attorney or brokers, taxing authority agents, and other third partiesPrepares timely staff performance evaluations and discusses them with the staff membersPromotes the most efficient operation of the firm by planning assignments and managing professional personnel. Should work to develop a responsible and trained staff by assisting in recruiting, developing training aids, and acting as an instructor in professional development programsShould make associations to develop new business for the firm and to maintain its professional image in the community. Doing so may include taking an active role in professional, civic, or charitable organizations, delivering talks, and writing articles for publicationsMaintains a knowledge of general economic and political trends, and other legislation that could affect the business climatePrepares other reports and projects as requested from time to time by the PartnersActively initiates and participates in firm marketing activitiesDevelops strong relationships with appropriate referral sources and follows up with contacts to develop client prospects or new workIs attentive to the responsibility of his/her people development rolesAssists in assimilating new hires into the firm and assists in recruiting activitiesConsistently achieves realization targetsEducation, Experience, & CertificationsBachelor's degree in accounting from a four-year college or universityEight plus (8+) years related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experienceMust currently hold an active CPA License in good standingHTB is an equal opportunity employer.
