OverviewValuation Services Director - Complex Financial Instruments — Director level position in the Valuation Team. The firm seeks a Director of Business Valuation with a focus on Complex Financial Instruments (CFI) to work on a variety of challenging projects involving financial analysis, business and financial modeling, forecasting, and valuations of complex financial instruments and derivatives (including convertible instruments, embedded derivatives, earn-outs, interest rate derivatives, common and preferred stock and other securities, private debt instruments, options, warrants, and other derivative products). Services support mergers and acquisitions; venture financing and public offerings (IPOs); taxation planning and compliance; financial reporting; and strategic planning. The firm also supports assurance and tax clients in relation to valuation needs.ResponsibilitiesOverall Responsibilities:Establish and maintain an effective sales and marketing process in the Valuation practice area, including setting specific growth goals to be incorporated into key objectives.Maintain an established referral work with peers in other geographic markets and in other areas of assurance, tax, and business consulting.Contribute thought leadership in the practice area.Serve as the primary advisor to clients and manage the CFI engagement team members.Manage, oversee, train, and develop other CFI valuation professionals.Specific Responsibilities:Develop and maintain strong relationships with centers of influence and professionals.Effectively manage overall client relationships to exceed client satisfaction.Manage fundamentals such as realization, utilization, leverage, accounts, receivable, and expenses.Be a thought leader.Mentor, coach, and train staff.Successfully integrate the firm’s strategy.Heighten the RSM brand by demonstrating thought leadership and engaging with the RSM marketing program.Promote cross-selling and integration of service lines within the firm.Basic QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field (Math, Financial Mathematics, Quantitative Finance, or related). MBA or other Master’s degree a plus.Professional Certifications: ABV, CPA, ASA, or CFA.Experience valuing complex financial instruments.Experience with option pricing models, Monte Carlo and Binomial models.Experience with Monte Carlo programs (e.g., @Risk, Crystal Ball), lattice models, coding (MatLab, R, etc.), Bloomberg, etc.Practice development and management, marketing, and thought leadership related to complex financial instruments.Ability to manage client relationships and leverage them to sell firm solutions.Ability to exceed client expectations in a sophisticated large consulting or accounting firm environment; experience with valuation for financial and tax reporting in a Big 4 or national firm.Demonstrated ability to develop business and a productive referral network.8+ years of management/leadership/supervisory experience.Database experience with Capital IQ.Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Flexibility to travel to clients and other RSM offices.Ability to work independently to gather facts, organize data, analyze financial statements and other financial data, and identify relevant pensation and BenefitsRSM offers a competitive benefits and compensation package.
