You must have a strong end-to-end mindset and understanding for all payroll operations, including the up and down stream impacts to payroll and employment tax operations. A focus on continuous process improvement, through SOPs, systems, integrations, etc. is key to ensuring our tax operations remain cutting edge while our service delivery continues to delight our customer.To be successful in this role, the Sr Payroll Tax Analyst – US must be a subject matter expert on wage and hour laws, Federal and State Tax legislation and regulations, with the ability to handle a large, complex employment tax operation timely and accurately. You must be an independent thinker with the ability to work with little day-to-day direction, while providing guidance and oversight to payroll staff and internal partners regarding employment tax actions, policies, and procedures.This role is hybrid on-site in one of our offices (San Diego CA, Mountain View CA, Atlanta GA, or Plano TX) 3 days per week. Candidates should be local to one of these offices.What you'll bringBachelor’s degree preferredCPP certification preferred8+ years of experience in payroll related operations, with a minimum of 5 years of employment tax experience in a large, complex organizationApply documented rules, past practices, or instructions on an independent levelAbility to work in a fast-paced, agile environmentAbility to process and connect information in times of ambiguityDemonstrated ability to hold information confidential with excellent judgmentSolid understanding of payroll tax, associated principles and compliance requirementsAbility to manage time, prioritize deliverables, multi-task and work under pressure in a dynamic work environmentExceptional organizational, analytical, research and problem solving skillsAdvanced analytical skillset, including the use of Excel, Alteryx and other toolsExcellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skillsDemonstrated ability to work in a team environmentExperience with Workday and ADP Globalview highly preferredHow you will leadResponsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To The FollowingVerify and maintain compliance with government payroll/tax requirementsKeep abreast of current and changing payroll and employment tax lawsReview and audit current processes to ensure compliance, while recommending and implementing changes where neededLead the daily/monthly/quarterly wage reconciliations and tax filing requirements, including year-end reporting, W-2s, W-2Cs and amendmentsResearch, determine root cause, and resolve incoming tax notices from various agenciesLead and perform audits of payroll and employment tax data prior to payroll completion while following all established controlsComplete post payroll audits and reporting, prepare metrics and track errors using technology and reporting toolsParticipate in the internal or external audits and review of records, worker’s compensation, tax filings, SOX, and other related documentationEvaluate federal, state and local tax treatment of employee fringe benefits, executive compensation and related impactsPartner closely with corporate accounting & tax to ensure accurate GL & tax reportingRespond to complex payroll related inquiries from employees and/or key stakeholdersResearch and produce complex reports which may require in depth analysisParticipate and provide direction for transitions in mergers, acquisitions, and divestituresDevelop, maintain and improve employment tax processes and internal controls to preserve the quality, efficiency and overall effectiveness of all employment tax functions while ensuring regulatory complianceParticipate in tracking and testing of legislative/regulatory changes, application enhancements, and system modificationsSupport execution of SOX controls as well as internal, external auditsSupport and be a team player to all payroll staff and assist in pre and post payroll audits to ensure productivity and knowledge of overall processes are maintained and improvedIntuit Provides a Competitive Compensation Package With a Strong Pay For Performance Rewards Approach. The Expected Base Pay Range For This Position IsBay Area California: $116,000 - 157,500Southern California: $105,000 - 142,500This position will be eligible for a cash bonus, equity rewards and benefits, in accordance with our applicable plans and programs.
