Director of Independent Risk Management, VPPay CompetitiveLocation: Woburn, MassachusettsEmployment type: Full-TimeJob DescriptionThe Director of Independent Risk Management, VP, is responsible for leading the Bank’s independent risk management function, which identifies, measures, aggregates, and reports on risk throughout the organization.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSProviding company-wide direction in the identification, measurement, aggregation and reporting of risk.Overseeing a team of specialists in the areas of operational risk, legal compliance, financial reporting (and other) controls, and regulatory reporting. Managing the performance of the team and developing/monitoring the team’s strategic plan initiatives.Developing and maintaining risk appetite, risk governance policy, risk and control self-assessment process, issues management, and other enterprise-wide policies, procedures, and controls on risk management.Reviewing and, where appropriate, challenging business line assessments of risks and processes to control risks.Overseeing management of the Bank’s examination planning, examination preparation, and audit preparation programs.Providing senior leadership with reporting on risk issues.Chairing the executive risk management committee, being a member of the compliance committee as well as the information security steering committee. As chair of the risk management committee, setting the agenda for regular meetings to ensure that risk issues are fully discussed, and sound decisions are made.JOB QUALIFICATIONSExtensive knowledge of bank operating procedures, controls, and -depth knowledge of risk management principles and “three lines of defense.”Strong knowledge of banking laws, rules, and regulations.Strong analytical, critical thinking, and writing skills.Experience managing a high achieving team.Proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.10+ years’ relevant professional experience.BA, BS or equivalent required; JD or LLM preferred.About Northern Bank & Trust CompanyNorthern Bank is a full-service bank dedicated to providing practical, common sense financial solutions to help our customers live their lives and grow their businesses.
