Analysts work with case teams - interacting closely with other analysts, economists, and case supervisors - in nearly all aspects of project work including a variety of quantitative and qualitative tasks, such as: a) data gathering and analysis, including spreadsheet modelling and regression analysis; b) industry research; c) review of analyst reports and business documents produced in litigation; d) production of expert report, government filings, and client presentations; e) ensuring the quality of all work product.Research and AnalysisCollects specific information (quantitative and qualitative) from identified sourcesUtilizes appropriate resources to identify the range of sources of relevant information, both quantitative and qualitativeIdentifies, collects and communicates relevant information (e.g., price; included and excluded information; dates of coverage, etc.)Interprets collected information so that it can be used by economists and case supervisors in the preparation of their expert reports and analysesSuccessfully incorporates modifications to projects and analysesIdentifies and communicates data, information and/or inconsistencies to team membersUtilizes case-specific documents (e.g., depositions, trial transcripts, expert reports, produced documents, etc.) to identify informationSummarizes and extracts information relevant to the arguments of the case from case specific documentsAnalyzes data used in client projectsFormulates and utilizes basic data modelingEffectively creates, organizes and maintains document lists and other methods for internal document managementEffectively documents research and analyses to facilitate communication of progressWork Product PreparationCreates and organizes documentation and backup of work productCustomizes client folders using Sharepoint document management softwareProduces graphical or tabular exhibits using a PC software applications or programming on the mainframeProofreads and identifies errors in charts, tables and other work productsQualificationsStrong academic background with a bachelor's degree in an analytical fieldDemonstrated quantitative and qualitative research and analytical skillsInterest in economics, finance, statistical programming, and data analysisExcellent written and oral communication skillsPreferred skillsSignificant coursework in economics, finance, mathematics, statistics, data science, or other quantitative fieldsIntroductory knowledge of Stata, SAS, R, Python or other statistical softwareStrong time management skills, completing multiple tasks on tight deadlines with close attention to detailPosition classification: Non-ExemptCompass Lexecon offers a compensation and benefits package that is competitive with other major economic consulting firms. The base salary for this position is $105,000. This position is non-exempt, meaning it is eligible for overtime pay. Analysts are also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus after their first year, which is based on several factors, including but not limited to employee performance and the overall performance of the firm.
