M-F/8-5 Job Category: Cultural/TraditionalOPENING DATE: August 18, 2025CLOSING DATE: Open Until FilledPOSITION SUMMARY: The Comanche Language Director provides the overall supervision, and direction for all activities, projects, programs, and staff within the department.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for the ongoing development, implementation, and periodic review of a strategic plan for maintaining and expanding a successful language revitalization program.Provides oversight for the development, implementation, maintenance, monitoring, and coordinating with all language projects, programs, and stakeholders.Directs and guides the work of the department towards the long-term goal of revitalization and preserving the Comanche Language culture.Effectively communicates with staff, tribal members and the community, both verbally and in writing.Reads, analyzes, and interpret research reports, articles, and other relevant data.Ability to make timely decisions that produce positive results and program planning, development, implementation and evaluation.Utilizes strong organizational and research skills.Ability to develop a professional network and partnership with local universities, higher education organizations, other tribal language programs and stakeholders.Oversees the Language program staff, services, and budget.Develop and monitor grant budgets and ensure compliance with all relevant policies and procedures.Establish and monitor appropriate policies, procedures and professional standards to accomplish the successful.Prepare grant updates and reports as required by the grant guidelines and ensure their accuracy and timeliness in submission, development, implementation, evaluation and reporting of the project.Prepare a variety of monthly, annual and special reports on ongoing program activities as required and requested.Monitor, assess and approve expenditures within program funding pletes time and attendance, performance evaluations, disciplines, terminates, hires and counsels staff when needed.Utilizes Microsoft software and other relevant technical software to complete job duties and assist staff with completing the program grant objectives.Develops and coordinates the Memorandum of Understanding and/or Memorandum of Agreement between the Language department and community partners.Maintains confidentiality of information obtained during employment tenure.Attends Comanche Business Committee meetings when requested or needed.Develops program Resolutions as needed.Evaluate program operations to determine progress and problems regarding the delivery of client services.Adheres to the Comanche Nation Constitution, Financial Policy, Human Resources Policies and Procedures, Property and Procurement Policies and all other pertinent policies and procedures.Demonstrates excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills.Demonstrates leadership, effective communication both written and orally.REPORTS TO:The Comanche Language Director reports to the Tribal Administrator and supervises all Language department staff.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Must be able to lift at least ten (10) lbs.WORK ENVIRONMENT:A majority of work will be completed in an office setting with some in state and out of state travel required.QUALIFICATIONS:Must possess a Bachelors degree in Education, Second Language studies, or other related field.Must possess previous work experience in one or more of the field following fields: language revitalization, education, youth development, organizational development, or related field.Must possess a minimum of three (3) years of supervisory work experience.Must possess a minimum of one (1) year work experience in Tribal Government.Must possess a valid drivers license and be insurable under the Comanche Nation motor vehicle policy.Must be willing to submit to and pass background investigation which proves good moral character.Must be willing to
