The Department:Silicon Valley Power currently provides over 40 percent of Santa Clara’s electricity from carbon-free renewable resources. In addition to using green energy from large-scale wind, solar, geothermal and hydroelectric projects outside of the area, SVP employs innovative ways to locally produce electricity by capturing and burning methane gas from a closed city landfill and using power from solar generating systems on city-owned garages and vacant, unusable land. Being competitive in the marketplace with a continuous focus on customer service, SVP can provide economic value to the City of Santa Clara and its customers while maintaining low residential rates and offering competitive rates for all customers.The Position:The Senior Resource Analyst is a lead position in the City’s Electric Utility Department, Silicon Valley Power (SVP). Incumbents in this classification provide leadership and supervision to junior employees and consultants in planning and coordinating electric utility supply, demand-side resource acquisition, and portfolio management. This position may be filled at or near the minimum of the salary range.Minimum QualificationsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEMinimum Education Requirements:Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Business, Accounting, Information Technology, or other related fieldMinimum Experience Requirements:Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience performing tasks, including but not limited to the following:Analyzing dataManaging programs, projects, and/or contractsDeveloping financial or technical reportsInterpreting complex rules and proceduresPreparing research reportsBuilding spreadsheets, databases, and/or computer programsOne (1) year of the required experience must be in a lead or supervisory role.Acceptable Substitution:Four (4) additional years of relevant experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s Degree requirement on a year for year basis.License/Certifications:None.Desirable Qualifications:Work experience in any of the following areas:Energy resource management, planning, procurement, or optimizationCalifornia Independent System Operator (CAISO) market, tariff, and proceduresRenewable Portfolio StandardsCalifornia Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Cap and Trade programRegulatory agencies such as CPUC, CEC, FERCOther Requirements: Must be able to perform all of the essential functions of the job assignment, with or without reasonable accommodationFollow this link to view the entire Class Specification, which includes more information on Typical Duties and Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities.Candidates must attain a passing score on each phase of the examination process to qualify for the Eligible List.
