It helps us better assess how our core values align with our daily operations and identify where we can improve.Position Summary:Sensiba is seeking a skilled, energetic, and motivated State and Local Income Tax Manager to join our dynamic and growing State and Local Tax (SALT) practice. This role provides an opportunity to join a dedicated and creative SALT team that is focused on quality client service. An ideal candidate is integral to the growth and success of the SALT Practice and will have experience with multistate income and gross receipt taxes.The SALT Manager will be responsible for reviewing state business activity tax (income, franchise, gross receipt, etc.) returns, consulting on apportionment and nexus issues, and identifying planning opportunities.Essential Functions:Frequently:Prepare and/or review state income tax, franchise tax, and gross receipts tax returnsComplete technically challenging research and/or consulting projectsInteract directly with clients via phone/email/ZoomCommunicate technical information and complex income tax matters to relevant team members and clientsPrepare supporting workpapers and document preparation methodologiesAttend and participate in client meetings via zoom/phone, and occasionally in personCommitment to continued development of strong SALT technical knowledgeOccasionally:Manage state and local income tax auditsLead various SALT training courses and willingness to train and develop less experienced tax staff and managersQualifications:Bachelors and/or Master's Degree in Accounting or Tax preferredMinimum of 6 years of experience preparing/reviewing multistate income, franchise, and gross receipt tax returns in Public Accounting requiredCPA, EA, IPT CMI (Income Tax) or equivalent certification preferredAbility to effectively research state and local tax code and determine state and local tax implications as applicable to various client businesses and/or industriesStrong relevant multistate tax technical knowledge, including analytical, research, critical thinking, and decision-making skills requiredTax research skills (Ex: Checkpoint, Bloomberg, CCH, Tax Notes) requiredMeticulous attention to detailExcellent verbal and written communication skillsHighly organized with strong time management skillsAbility to be a technical mentor to tax associates and peersStrong people management skillsAbility to build relationships and interact with clients to provide excellent client serviceThere are many reasons to join the Sensiba team: generous benefits, competitive compensation, professional advancement opportunities, and above all - our people.
