For more information, visit us at .We have an immediate need for a Policy Analyst to join our Federal and State Government Relations practice in our Washington, DC office. We are seeking an individual who can work across our various state Government Relations practices with a focus on the Southeastern region, specifically Florida to cover hearings, create reports and track and analyze legislation for clients.Successful candidates will have outstanding writing skills, strong organizational skills, the ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environments, balance competing priorities, excellent research and analytical skills, and will pay close attention to detail. Additionally, candidates should have solid political awareness, leadership experience, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently, as well as in a team-oriented, collaborative manner. The ability to engage clients and government officials in a mature, professional manner is also critical.The candidate selected for this position may also be asked to take responsibility for other duties that fall outside of the essential job functions, listed below.Monitoring, tracking and reporting to senior team members and clients on legislative, regulatory and other policy and political developmentsPrepare a range of written communications for internal and external audiences; including writing weekly summaries of relevant policy developments for clients (including one-pagers, drafting agendas)Collaborate with business development team to support any materials for clients (including but not limited to one-pagers)Provide coverage of congressional hearings for clientsParticipate in regular calls with clients. This may include giving the client real-time updates and/or preparing background materials for the team members who represent the clientResponsible for meeting notesHelp coordinate meetings for clients on Capitol Hill, government agencies, or with third party groupsCandidate will eventually be asked to take greater responsibility for coordinating and leading Brownstein policy team meetings and organizing the team’s engagement efforts on behalf of clientsPerform other research and duties as requiredRequired and Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in political science, public policy, law or related field3+ years of legislative/public policy experience in the Southeastern US region, preferably with direct experience in state legislature; ideally experience with FL state legislatureStrong understanding of the legislative process at the state and/or federal levelHill scheduling experience is preferredStrong written and oral communication skillsExperience working in Congress, the Executive Branch, political campaigns, advocacy and lobbying, and/or policy research and analysisStrong computer and research skillsAbility to work well under pressure and balance competing prioritiesAbility to engage clients and government officials in a mature, professional mannerTravel as needed to Florida or other Southeastern US StatesCompensation and Benefits: Brownstein offers a benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, 401k + match, profit sharing, and vacation/sick/personal time off. In addition this role pays overtime for hours worked above 40 per week.
