DescriptionWHAT YOU'LL DOAs an Interior Project Designer (Technical) at DES Architects + Engineers, you will translate design concepts into constructible details. This role requires a strong focus on technical precision as you develop and refine detailed documentation, specifications, and drawings for a diverse range of interior projects.ResponsibilitiesLead the technical development and execution of interior design packages, ensuring construction drawings, specifications, and details are accurate, complete, and code compliantCollaborate with the interior design team to transition from concept and schematic phases to permit-ready documentationLead all subcontractors and trades coordination during the permit documentation phase to ensure seamless integration of design intentCoordinate with team members across disciplines with a focus on technical coordination and integration of interior elementsWork with manufacturers, vendors, and consultants to gather technical data, confirm product specifications, and ensure material applicationDevelop interior specification sections, ensuring material and product selections are technically appropriate and documentedConduct rigorous quality control reviews of project documents for technical accuracy, coordination, and completeness across all disciplinesReview project budgets for consistency with documents and industry standardsAssist with the technical review of submittals for conformance with design intent and specificationsRequirementsMinimum of 8 years of dedicated interior design experience with a track record of excellence in technical documentation and execution across all project phasesProficiency in translating design concepts into detailed construction drawings and specificationsComprehensive understanding of current building codes and accessibility standards (e.g., California Building Code, ADA) governing interior spacesStrong working knowledge of integrated building systems (architectural, structural, MEP, civil) and their interface with interior design elementsIn-depth knowledge of sustainable design concepts and productsExperience contributing to Design Development (DD), Construction Documents (CD), and Construction Administration (CA) phasesProficiency in Revit and BluebeamAIA qualification, preferred or on track for IDP / NCARB TestingLEED ID+C, WELL, and Fitwel credentials, preferredExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbalStrong organizational and time management skills with emphasis on delivering detailed technical work on deadlinesAgile mindset with ability to collaborate across internal disciplinesInvolvement in the local design community is a plusBachelor’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design or equivalent experienceHybrid work environment with onsite days in Redwood City or San Francisco on Tuesday, Wednesday, and ThursdayMust be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship now or in the futureCompensation and LocationThe typical pay range for this position is $80,000 - $110,000 in total compensation. Compensation depends on the individual's skills, experience, education, and geographic location.
