The role can be based in Princeton, NJ, or Washington, DC, with a hybrid work model.Job SummaryThe Vice President, Government Business & Government Sales will lead the strategic direction, growth, and execution of the company’s government sales and contracting efforts, focusing on the generic pharmaceutical industry. Responsibilities include expanding the company's presence in federal, state, and local government markets, including agencies like VA, DoD, CMS, and other public health bodies. Experience with DARPA, BARDA, and ASPR, and existing contacts in these areas, are essential for success.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement government sales strategies for generic pharmaceuticals, aligning with procurement trends and vehicles.Secure large government contracts through proposal development, negotiations, and contract management.Build relationships with government buyers and procurement officials.Coordinate with regulatory and legal teams to navigate contracting regulations.Lead lobbying and advocacy initiatives, including policy engagement and representing the company in public forums.Work with cross-functional teams to develop value propositions for the government sector.Manage external lobbyists and policy consultants, and oversee the company's PAC activities.Lead and mentor a high-performance team focused on government sales and policy.Provide leadership updates on government healthcare purchasing trends and legislative developments.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Business, Public Policy, Health Economics, or related; MBA, MPA, or JD preferred.15+ years in government sales, business development, or policy within the pharmaceutical industry, especially with generic drugs.Proven success in managing federal and state pharmaceutical contracts.Deep understanding of government procurement, drug pricing, public payer dynamics, and reimbursement policies.At least 5 years' experience in government affairs, lobbying, advocacy, and legislative analysis.Existing relationships with DARPA and related defense innovation programs.Strong relationships with government stakeholders and deep knowledge of CMS, VA, DoD, and Medicaid policies.Ability to register as a federal and/or state lobbyist (if applicable).Experience managing PACs and advocacy efforts.High emotional intelligence, leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.Note: Compensation varies based on location and experience.
