Assistant Chief Engineer

Overview Hampton Inn Miami-Coconut Grove/Coral Gables is seeking a skilled, highly motivated Assistant Chief Engineer for our hotel. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring our hotel and equipment run smoothly. Responsibilities Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing malfunctioning electrical and mechanical systems and equipment. Reviewing maintenance problems, complaints, and work orders to prioritize and schedule work assignments. Monitoring and inspecting assigned work. Inspecting the property to identify potential and current needs. Planning and executing ongoing maintenance programs. Servicing the hotel’s pool, including adjusting chemicals and cleaning filters. Estimating department expenditures for budget purposes and assisting with the capital budget process. Soliciting bids from contractors, evaluating their proposals, and ensuring work is completed to specifications. Recruiting, mentoring, training, and supporting facilities staff. Coordinating with local health, safety, fire and building inspectors to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations. Performing preventive maintenance on a scheduled basis. Maintaining the building exterior when not serviced by a contractor (e.g., snow removal, lawn care, painting). Listening and responding to guests’ requests or complaints. Education And Experience A few years in a maintenance role with troubleshooting and repair of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems (preferred). Valid Driver’s License. Ability to encourage co-workers to perform their best work in a positive and respectful manner. Self-directed and able to work independently. Must be a citizen of the United States or possess a valid work permit. Physical Demands Must be able to stand for prolonged periods. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to navigate various departments of the organization’s physical premises.
