Join to apply for the Scientist - Program Chief Systems Engineer - Ashburn - Secret role at L3Harris TechnologiesJob Location: Ashburn, VAJob Schedule: 9/80 (Every other Friday off)Relocation: Relocation assistance is available to qualified applicantsOverviewThe Scientist - Systems Engineering, Program Chief Engineer for the Precision Attack Strike Munition (PASM) will be responsible for supporting technical execution of a fast-paced unmanned air vehicle program for long range launch effects, located in Ashburn, VA. The scope includes development, manufacturing, and qualification of the system. The Scientist position will report to the Chief Engineer of the Agile Development Division within the Airborne Combat Systems sector.The Scientist - Systems Engineering, Program Chief Engineer responsibilities include providing technical direction to all programs in the Radar portfolio, leading the architecture implementation of current pursuits, and supporting customer briefings on current programs and on new technology applications. The role involves close collaboration with other L3Harris programs to ensure commonality in system designs and growth opportunities. The position will also coach and develop the engineering staff on the program.Essential FunctionsProvide subject matter expert technical leadership, maintain customer communications, and be a technical authority representative for the PASM programUnderstand customer mission and customer sets; drive technical strategy within the Systems Engineering OrganizationInterface effectively with program management and customersLead or support new pursuits for the organization across campaigns and proposal processes; serve as a technical leader for new pursuitsSupport and develop technical roadmaps within the organizationDrive adoption of common architecture frameworks and prevent unique product implementation at proposal/concept designIdentify opportunities for engineering improvements (process, people, tools)Demonstrate core competencies including problem solving, team leadership, strategic thinking/planning, communication, IPT/cross-functional behavior, accountability, critical thinking, and ethical conductHave strong knowledge of air vehicle or unmanned air vehicle systemsQualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience; or graduate degree with 10 years; in lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of related experienceActive Secret Security Clearance, US CitizenshipPreferred Additional SkillsExperience with aerospace systems, especially integrated hardware/software productsExperience integrating payloads (sensors or communications) into air vehiclesExperience leading a team to complete program taskingExperience in Control Account Management as part of Earned Value Management SystemExperience in unmanned aircraft or guided weapon systemsExperience with proposal development and basis of estimatesExperience developing use cases from customer objectives and concepts of operationsExcellent people skills and ability to lead and collaborate in a multi-disciplinary environmentExcellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skillsBachelor’s or Master’s degrees in related engineering disciplines (Electrical, Hardware, Electro-Mechanical, Systems)Experience with MBSE, digital engineering, and system simulationUnderstanding of cyber security best practicesAbility to coach, mentor, and build relationships with external organizationsAbility to obtain a higher level security clearance if neededExperience in an engineering leadership role (e.g., IPT Lead) and interfacing with DoD customersExperience in large-scale hardware/software development and environmental qualification testingExperience in manufacturing on large-scale programsAbility to convey complex technical information clearly to executives and stakeholdersL3Harris Technologies is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
