OverviewSIMETRY is seeking an outstanding Director of IoT Engineering to join and lead our Internet of Things (IoT) Engineering team. The IoT Engineering team is responsible for technical product introduction, sales, onboarding of new and existing IoT customers, vendor management, and technical support. In this role, you will support the embedded development of cellular technologies and assist customers in the configuration and adoption of newly finished IoT products. The Director role has both technical and managerial focuses. On the technical side, you will guide the direction of our development and evolve our architecture through the incorporation of cutting-edge technologies. On the management side, the Director will grow the team and help shape the future of the SIMETRY organization.Position SummarySIMETRY is seeking an outstanding Director of IoT Engineering to join and lead our Internet of Things (IoT) Engineering team. On the management side, the Director will grow the team and help shape the future of the SIMETRY organization.Key ResponsibilitiesProvides leadership and vision in the engineering of delivered technology, employees, and direct reports.Provides best-in-class design solutions to clients and customersPartners with Sales in client facing meetings to develop product offerings that are attractive to customers, while setting proper expectationsCollaborates with Sales and with clients to obtain and quantify measurable Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to be delivered and adhered toAnalyzes complex business needs presented by the user community and recommends technical solutions.Weighs cost verses client needs to deliver a solution that provides the best margins and ROI possible, while not affecting performance or customer experienceManages team and individuals by tracking and directing performance against objectives, creating an atmosphere of trust and collaboration, modeling leadership behaviors and encouraging continuous improvement and innovationPerforms salary administration and conducts interviews and makes recommendations for new hires, consultants and/or replacement personnelDirects and prioritizes the workload of subordinate personnel.Oversees application release schedules and software updates and patches.Acts as the final escalation point for all external facing clients and customers regarding the technical or engineering concerns within SIMETRYProvides the Last Line of Defense (LLOD) support, while maintaining a composure of accountability, to ensure a high level of customer satisfactionOversees vendors and providers to ensure that existing and new service designs meet SLAs and expectations for a secure, robust, and reliable networksGuides and visualizes products, setups, and tools to help the SIMETRY be more efficient and profitableApproves all changes to global SIMETRY network changes, configuration, and designReviews all designs, code, and unit test plans where applicable.Approves all business requirements prior to the technical solution.Participates on all hardware and software evaluations and maintains vendor contracts.Performs liaison duties between users, operations, and programming personnel in the areas of systems design, modifications or trouble shooting.Additional duties, as requiredSome travel is required.Essential Experience, Knowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesWidely versed on offerings ranging from Internet Protocol (IP) technologies, LAN/WAN design, RF, cellular boards and chipsets, Private APN’s, and cyber security.Knowledgeable in best practices, manufacturer recommended configurations and setupsAble to absorb and understand client needs and networks in real time while transcribing the requirements requestAble to absorb and understand client engineering needs in real time and recommend best practicesAble to use consulting skills to advise clients and provide solutions that may not have been considered by other active participantsAble to troubleshoot advanced problems instantaneously, often with restricted and minimal direct interactionThorough understanding of all network protocols and topologiesAdditional in-depth protocol knowledge at the raw engineering levelAble to read raw packet captures in order to troubleshoot issues for Clients and Customers, and uphold the highest standards of troubleshooting availableAble to take over diagnostic functions for a lower tier group and efficiently resolve lingering issues, with minimal backtrack.Able to thoroughly understand and troubleshoot with advanced instruments (Spectrum Analyzer, Oscilloscope, Digital Multimeter (DMM), Frequency Counter and Generator, High speed capture device, Logic Analyzer, etc.)Proficient at quickly assimilating new protocols or standards and determining their ability to integrate in real timeStrong working knowledge of cellular technologies, hardware, and related networking designsDemonstrates ability to function at a high level with minimal guidanceAble to build, lead and develop strong teams that achieve high standards of performanceAble to apply knowledge and skills to create a unified productAble to organize and prioritize work demands in a fast-paced environmentAbility to work independently at customer sites to investigate, diagnose, and resolve problemsMust
